The EU has recently entered into a number of preferential or free trade agreements whereby products originating in beneficiary countries can enter the EU free from duty, or at a reducted rate.  In this issue we will be looking at how this will impact on your business. 

 

We will also be updating you on the latest developments with regard to the new customs code.  As always, if you would like to talk any of these issues through please get in touch.

Update of the Scope of Preferential Trade Agreements
 
The EU has entered in to a number of preferential or free trade agreements whereby products originating in beneficiary countries can enter the EU free from duty or at a reduced rate.  

  

In essence, these cumulation provisions increase the likelihood that goods sourced from any of the countries mentioned can benefit for duty free import.

 

Modernisation of Anti Dumping Duty
 
The EU Commission made a proposal on 10 April to modernise ADD.  The proposal must be approved by the Council and EU Parliament and is unlikely to become law before 2014.
  
   
Postponement of New Customs Code

 

The new customs code was due to come into effect on 24 June 2013. This deadline in now has been postponed and the new target date is 1 November 2013.
