Greetings!
For 41 years, the Washingtonian Magazine has honored local heroes who make our city a better place for all. This year, we are honored to announce that our own Jamila Larson, Executive Director of the Homeless Children's Playtime Project, has been chosen as one of 10 Washingtonians of the year!
We are excited about the opportunity this honor presents to bring more visibility to our work! Pick up the January issue on newsstands now or take a look at the article here. |

Our Washingtonian of the Year |
|
It started as a discovery that children at one dismal downtown shelter had no toys or child-friendly spaces. Now it has grown into a movement of caring and commited volunteers, donors and partners working together across the city to ensure children in shelters have access to play and other critical needs.
"It is the volunteers who create Playtime and I am humbled to accept this award on behalf of our 300 volunteers who make Playtime happen ten times each week. Of course we could not do what we do without our donors, partners, Board, and supporters and I am so grateful to them all!" -JL |
