The Homeless Children's Playtime Project
November 28, 2012

The Holiday Season is right around the corner!

Holiday planning is in full swing at Playtime!
Site Managers have collected holiday wishlists from over 220 kids and now donors are busy purchasing clothing, toys and books for each child. Playtime will be full of laughs and smiles when the kids see that their gift wishes have come true!

Donors are also providing new teddy bears, goody bags and gifts for Playtime parents. This year, kids will get to experience the gift of giving in choosing and wrapping donated gifts for their parents!

It's not to late to get involved!
What will you do to give back?

There's still so much to do! We still need:

Gift cards for snacks

Christmas wreaths

Baby gifts

Groups to host holiday parties

Gift cards for teen prizes

Hats, gloves, and scarves for all ages!

Contact kelli@playtimeproject.org for more information!

Beating the Odds
Our teens received a special invitation to the Children's Defense Fund's Annual Beat the Odds Banquet last week. Fifteen Playtime kids joined the celebration and enjoyed speeches, gourmet desserts, and a special performance! In the words of one of our teens, "we saw a tap dancer that was so good, I almost wanted to tap dance myself!"

At Playtime, we're strive to help kids overcome life's adversities! With a high attendance of 16 teenagers at tutoring and teen night, we know our kids are the perfect example of having what it takes to beat the odds!

Thanks to Atlantic Transportation Company for providing free shuttle transportation to and from the event!

"The things I like best about the beat the odds celebration was how the scholars who beat the odds went up on stage and shared their story on the big screen which was their life and what they went through in their life." -
Playtime Attendee

 Girls on the Run
This weekend the eight team-members on DC General's Girls on the Run Team will participate in their final season 5K race! They braved the dark nights and cold weather to train all fall. Sunday's race will celebrate their hard work!

We are very proud of our team!
