How to Report and Earn CPE

It's that time of year again to check your level of accrued CPEs and make certain of your certification renewal eligibility for any ISACA certifications you hold.

ISACA's CPE reporting system has recently been enhanced, and CPEs can now be entered as they are earned.

Don't forget that you can earn up to 20 CPE hours per year as a volunteer for our Phoenix chapter or for the international ISACA organization.

You can earn up to 36 hours of free CPEs annually by attending ISACA's Webinars, Virtual Conferences and archived e-Symposia right at your computer on your own schedule.

And then there's earning CPEs when attending your local Phoenix chapter ISACA meetings while networking with your professional peers.  And say, did you notice how local chapter meeting attendance fees have recently dropped dramatically - to zero cost? Thank you local chapter Board and our sponsors!

For easy-to-access help for earning and recording ISACA CPEs visit ISACA at the link in the title of this article.

I would like to thank Denise LeClaire. She has served as our 2nd VP for the past several months and prior to that served as a director. She needed to step down, but we are grateful for her time - she got our Sponsorship Committee off to a great start.

The 2013 Phoenix Security & Audit Conference was a great success! It was great being able to collaborate with the local chapters of the ISSA and IIA. We had so many wonderful volunteers, it takes a lot to pull off a conference like that. We had committees for speakers, sponsors, the facility, and marketing. We plan to provide the annual conference again next year, if you are interested in helping please send an email to volunteer@isacaphoenixchapter.org. We start planning about 8 months in advance, but we can scope volunteer roles to just a few hours a month.

This month we have an evening chapter meeting. Thanks to our sponsors - PwC and Terra Verde Services - the chapter meeting is again FREE to members. The meeting is 2 CPE, runs from 5:30 to 8:00, and will include dinner. We are also looking for additional sponsors for the rest of the year. If your company might be interested or you have questions, you can email sponsor@isacaphoenixchapter.org.

Lastly, we're excited to announce the start of our Research Committee. The new Research Director is Romeo Farinacci, PhD. Romeo has a great background in academic research. This committee serves as the subject matter experts on ISACA knowledge deliverables. Committee members can help to review or contribute to ISACA research materials and new needs are constantly posted by ISACA Information Security Practices. Those interested in participating can email volunteer@isacaphoenixchapter.org.

Sincerely,

Aaron Cook, CISA

ISACA Phoenix Chapter President
