Dear ,
We had a great chapter meeting in September and especially being able to have an evening chapter meeting. Rotating between lunch/afternoon times and evening times has allowed some members who otherwise would not attend to be able to come.
In October our chapter will be at lunch, but this time at the PERA Club in Tempe. We're excited to try a new lunch time location and to have the topic of working with big data including a demonstration.
Next month we have our CISA and CISM review courses. Registration ends soon, so please be sure to check it out.
Regards,
President, ISACA Phoenix Chapter

Lunch Session: Deepdive Technologies is a 6 year old Arizona company focusing on helping companies reduce data risk by providing detailed custom data analysis reports on stored data at rest. We provide a service with a unique combination of data discovery tools and data analysis techniques. Deepdive can take action on identified sensitive data by moving it to a more secure location or removing it. The first step to effectively reducing cyber risk is understanding the data at risk. This was the most often skipped over portion of the cyber security process because of its perceived complexity and organization disruption. By not skipping over the data analysis phase, organizations can now design more effective cyber risk reduction strategies. Alan Steinberg has been leading technology initiatives for over thirty years. Working on the first microprocessor and microcontroller chips at Intel to leading local technology start-up companies. Deepdive was started to focus on the industry trend to become more data focused rather than storage focused. The main barrier in today's organizations to be more data focused is providing clear data analysis reports and recommended actions with no operational disruptions. The goal with Deepdive was to combine the best data discovery technologies with the best data analysis techniques.
Technical Session: Parm Lalli is a Director in the Vancouver office of Sunera. He has over 10 years of audit and controls experience with Sunera and other IT consulting firms. This experience includes leading or being involved in work on IT General Controls, Application Controls, Internal Audit, IT Risk Assessment, Process Improvement Advisory, Operational Audit, Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), and National Instrument 52-109

 | Membership Spotlight | |
Ian Lewis is a Sr. IT Auditor at TSYS Acquiring Solutions. He has been an ISACA since 2008 and has earned his CISA certification.
Why did you join ISACA? I joined ISACA as a result of starting my career in IT Audit and Consulting, to leverage the resources of the professional organization, and attain my CISA.
How has ISACA helped you in your professional career? ISACA has helped me in providing resources to refer to, contacts and networking opportunities, and training/CPE resources.
When was the last time you used something from ISACA and how did it help you? COBIT principals are used essentially on a daily basis, and I utilize resources from the website and chapter meetings typically on a weekly/monthly basis. COBIT and reference materials from the website are generally accepted by the IT Audit/Security profession, so they are sound standards to utilize. Networking with ISACA tends to keep me in the loop, especially in a profession that is such a "small world".
