Dear ,
I hope everyone is having a fun and safe summer. In August we will have the 2012 Phoenix Summer Security & Audit Conference in conjunction with the ISSA. Please be sure to sign up for this event, the early bird pricing of $25 for members ends on July 31st. Registration costs are being kept low due to our sponsors and subsidization by the ISACA and ISSA chapters. Beginning August 1st the member cost will rise to $35 and the cost is $50 at the door (although the event is nearing capacity, so please sign up soon).
Additionally, we have two registrations to raffle off to ISACA members so they can attend for free. If you are interested in being included in the raffle, please send an email to Aaron Cook, Chapter Secretary, by July 30th at 5:00pm. We will randomly select two winners and notify them.
Enjoy your summer and stay cool!

Each month we try to spotlight a local member of our chapter. This month it is Ilene Klein. In December 2011, Ilene earned the highest score on the CISM exam for the North America Region. She also stays active in the professional community. In addition to presenting in various venues such as next month's Sonoran Desert Security Users Group (SDSUG), she will serve as the Phoenix ISSA secretary after elections are held.
Why did you join ISACA?
I joined so I could become a CISM.... It seemed the next logical step in my career path. While I do a lot of reading about security, emerging threats, and pending security and privacy legislation, studying for the exam "forced" me to continue learning.
Now that I'm a member and attended my first meeting, I enjoyed the networking. As I'm a security and privacy practitioner, it's nice to hear the audit point of view occasionally.
Why did you earn your CISM?
In addition to helping my career, passing the exam was a nice validation that I really do know what I'm talking about.
Any suggestions for preparing for the CISM?
I took the CISM exam prep course (with a shout out to instructor Kim Jones, CISM, CISSP, CRISC, MSIA), and, at Kim's suggestion, purchased ISACA's practice question database.
I strongly recommend the practice question database. While the class was good, going over questions and understanding the reasoning behind the correct answers really helped me. |
