Certification News You Can Use
May 5, 2015

Welcome to the May edition of "Certification News You Can Use", a monthly newsletter about certification published on the first Tuesday of each month. Each newsletter will highlight important updates regarding certification and recognize all new certified IAEDP members for each month. As the Certification Director, I appreciate the dedication and passion of all those who are pursuing advanced skills and recognition by applying for iaedp's Certification designations.

HOT OFF THE PRESS:

Registered Dietitians, take note: The Equivalency CEDRD Certification will now require you to take and pass the final Certification exam beginning June 2, 2015, as part of the approval process by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

  • Equivalency CEDRD Applications postmarked no later than Friday, May 29, 2015 will NOT be required to take the final exam for approval (although I encourage you to consider doing so for your own professional experience) but also will NOT be eligible for the 75 CEUs for CDR.
  • Current Traditional AND Equivalency CEDRDs who have been approved prior to June 2, 2015 are grandfathered in and will maintain their CEDRD status; however, you are NOT eligible for the 75 CEUs from CDR unless you take the current Certification final exam on or after June 2, 2015. If you choose to take the exam again (for those with approved Traditional CEDRD status) or for the first time (for those with approved Equivalency CEDRD status), you will be eligible for the full 75 CEUs from CDR for every other 5-year CDR Recertification cycle going forward.
  • Regardless of the new CDR approval, there is NO CHANGE in the iaedp Certification Renewal Requirements. ALL approved CEDRDs are required to renew their CEDRD with iaedp every two years, with 20 CEUs specific to the ED field, current membership, and attendance at an iaedp Symposium once every four years (every two renewable cycles).

New Certification Exam Study Guide Coming Soon!

A comprehensive study guideline that outlines the subject matter on which exam questions are based, to include core courses and required reading content, will be available to all iaedp members by June 1, 2015. An announcement will be sent to iaedp members, and the free-of-charge study guide will also be available via the website on the Certification page.

Become a Fellow of iaedp (F.iaedp)

You deserve to be recognized and validated as an experienced clinician and iaedp is committed to helping our members! The Board of Directors and Awards Committee created the Fellow of iaedp (F.iaedp), a new category of elevated membership status available to highly committed and accomplished professionals.

For consideration for elevated membership status as a Fellow of iaedp, candidates' collective contributions over time will be evaluated. Guidelines identify but are not exclusive to iaedp members of seven continuous years or more who have been in practice for a minimum of 15 years, are preferably Certified Eating Disorder Specialists and have demonstrated accomplishment and participation in the field through activities such as teaching, presentations, training, research, writing and innovative community projects. Each honoree will receive a special certificate of recognition and Fellow Members may include "F. iaedp" with his or her credentials. Award nominations and Fellow of iaedp applications are encouraged from members through forms provided online.  More information here
