Certification News You Can Use
April 7, 2015

Welcome to the April edition of "Certification News You Can Use", a monthly newsletter about certification published on the first Tuesday of each month. Each newsletter will highlight important updates regarding certification and recognize all new certified IAEDP members for each month. As the Certification Director, I appreciate the dedication and passion of all those who are pursuing advanced skills and recognition by applying for iaedp's Certification designations.

HOT OFF THE PRESS:

Thank you to all who attended the Certification Breakfast at the recent iaedp Symposium. A packed room, and great discussion! More applications are coming in as a result, and we appreciate your patience as the staff and Committee work to ensure a timely review.

Updated Certification Requirements

For those who may have missed the announcement about the 2015 Certification requirement updates, please take time to review the changes http://www.iaedp.com/overview%204%20Certification%20Overview.htm

NOTE: Do not use the drop-down link on the webpages because they will be under construction for updates. All Certification forms can be found on link above or by clicking on the Certification box to the left side on the home page of www.iaedp.com

If you are already in process towards certification and nearing completion, don't worry! The changes will not affect you and a grace period will be offered, just like last year, to honor current standards. But if you are new to the process and ready to start, these changes are important and will be required for most applications submitted in 2015.

Are you a REGISTERED DIETITIAN, and missed the Symposium?

Then DON'T miss the following announcements:

- The NEW "CEDRD in Eating Disorder Care" booklet, published by iaedp's Nutrition/Health Management Committee under the direction of Karen Beerbower, MS, RD, CEDRD, F.iaedp and distributed at the symposium, is now available in print and by download: http://www.iaedp.com/IAEDP_Book.pdf. For print copies, please contact Tammy at tammy@iaedp.com.

-The Traditional CEDRD Certification has been APPROVED BY CDR for 75 CEUs beginning June 2, 2015 on an every other 5-year RD renewal cycle. And a SHOUT OUT to Kathryn Fink, MS, RD, CEDRD for her significant help and support in making this a reality! The Equivalency CEDRD Certification is in the review process by CDR, pending approval. Those who attended the RD Networking session at the Symposium will agree it was a lively, passionate discussion, and MORE DETAILS WILL BE COMING SOON!

UPCOMING CERTIFICATION EVENTS:

The "Everything You Need to Know about Certfication" Webinar Slideshow is available on the iaedp website, www.iaedp.com, on the Certification page. It reflects the latest updates, so check it out if you haven't had an opportunity to participate in a Chapter-specific webinar yet.

Become a Fellow of iaedp (F.iaedp)

You deserve to be recognized and validated as an experienced clinician and iaedp is committed to helping our members! The Board of Directors and Awards Committee created the Fellow of iaedp (F.iaedp), a new category of elevated membership status available to highly committed and accomplished professionals.

For consideration for elevated membership status as a Fellow of iaedp, candidates' collective contributions over time will be evaluated. Guidelines identify but are not exclusive to iaedp members of seven continuous years or more who have been in practice for a minimum of 15 years, are preferably Certified Eating Disorder Specialists and have demonstrated accomplishment and participation in the field through activities such as teaching, presentations, training, research, writing and innovative community projects. Each honoree will receive a special certificate of recognition and Fellow Members may include "F. iaedp" with his or her credentials. Award nominations and Fellow of iaedp applications are encouraged from members through forms provided online.  More information here
