HAPPY NEW YEAR! Welcome to the first 2015 edition of "Certification News You Can Use", a monthly newsletter about certification published on the first Tuesday of each month. Each newsletter will highlight important updates regarding certification and recognize all new certified IAEDP members for each month. As the Certification Director, I appreciate the dedication and passion of all those who are pursuing advanced skills and recognition by applying for iaedp's Certification designations.
COMING SOON:
It's a new year, and time to announce new updates and remind you of changes made to the Certification process for 2015. Be looking for an email coming soon that will list all the Certification revisions made and new documents approved by the iaedp Board of Directors during 2014, including updated Reading List and Core Courses, updated Exam, updated requirements such as NO MORE transcripts if you have an active, current license to practice in your field, and revisions to the CEDCAT checklist. If you are already in process towards certification and nearing completion, don't worry! The changes will not affect you and a grace period will be offered, just like last year, to honor current standards. But if you are new to the process, or ready to start, these changes are important and will be required for most applications submitted in 2015.
HOT OFF THE PRESS:
Dual Certification:
If you are a practicing clinician in the field of eating disorders within two disciplines, such as a therapist and a registered dietitian, or a registered nurse and a therapist, and would like to become certified in both disciplines, the iaedp Board of Directors has approved the Dual Certification process, as follows:
1) Initial Applications: A separate Certification application must be submitted for each discipline, including separate application fee and three letters of recommendation for each, to include at least one discipline-specific letter per application.
2) Renewal: A renewal fee is necessary for EACH designation held; however, only one set of 20 CEUs specific to the field of eating disorders is required for renewal of both certification designations every two years, along with attendance at an iaedp Symposium once every four years.
Are you an iaedp Approved Supervisor? Share the news with your professional community by using the NEW iaedp Approved Supervisor Press Release template to announce your accomplishment, found under Certification link, www.iaedp.com:
