Certification News You Can Use
September 2, 2014

Welcome to the September edition of "Certification News You Can Use", a monthly newsletter about certification published on the first Tuesday of each month. Each newsletter will highlight important updates regarding certification and recognize all new certified IAEDP members for each month. As the Certification Director, I appreciate the dedication and passion of all those who are pursuing advanced skills and recognition by applying for iaedp's Certification designations.

HOT OFF THE PRESS:

Great news!  iaedp has recently become a vendor for the Veteran's Administration (VA).  Becoming a vendor for the VA will allow iaedp to accept VA grant funding as payment for our course work and certification process.  Within the next two years we hope to have 160+ VA clinicians working toward their CEDS, CEDRD or CEDRN Certification.

If you are pursuing Traditional Certification, one of the requirements is completion of 2000+ patient care hours supervised by an iaedp Approved Supervisor. Two options exist for you when selecting your supervisor:

1.You can now search for an iaedp Approved Supervisor by clicking on the memberclicks site link: http://iaedp.memberclicks.net/.  The Approved iaedp Supervisor search is at the bottom right part of the page. If you enter a specific zip code, you can see who is already approved in your specific geographical area. Since you are not limited to a supervisor within your own geographical area, you can leave the zip code field blank to pull up the entire list.

2. You can ask an experienced clinician in the field of eating disorders with whom you already work to consider becoming your Approved Supervisor. This clinician would need to meet the requirements listed on the Approved Supervisor application, found at www.iaedp.com under the Certification link, Traditional Certification.

3. For more specific guidelines about supervision, read the Approved Supervisor Options and Guidelines http://www.iaedp.com/Approved_Supervisor_Options_Guidelines.pdf

Become a Fellow of iaedp (F.iaedp)

You deserve to be recognized and validated as an experienced clinician and iaedp is committed to helping our members! The Board of Directors and Awards Committee created the Fellow of iaedp (F.iaedp), a new category of elevated membership status available to highly committed and accomplished professionals.

For consideration for elevated membership status as a Fellow of iaedp, candidates' collective contributions over time will be evaluated. Guidelines identify but are not exclusive to iaedp members of seven continuous years or more who have been in practice for a minimum of 15 years, are preferably Certified Eating Disorder Specialists and have demonstrated accomplishment and participation in the field through activities such as teaching, presentations, training, research, writing and innovative community projects. Each honoree will receive a special certificate of recognition and Fellow Members may include "F. iaedp" with his or her credentials. Award nominations and Fellow of iaedp applications are encouraged from members through forms provided online.  More information here
