IAEDP Certification: Everything You Need To Know by Tammy Beasley, RDN, CEDRD, CSSD,
Director of Certification

As the rate of individuals affected by eating disorders continues to grow, a greater need for qualified treatment providers in the field exists. iaedp has recognized that need by offering an advanced Certification Program, established in 2002 and continually strengthened and updated to maintain its strong reputation in the mental health field. It is iaedp's mission to promote excellence in competency assessment for professionals in the eating disorders field through offering a rigorous set of criteria for the evaluation of education, training, knowledge and experience. iaedp's goal is to provide professional certification that is obtainable and affordable without compromising the high level of standards necessary.

Two routes of certification exist for all three designations: Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS), Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian (CEDRD) and Certified Eating Disorder Registered Nurse (CEDRN). The Traditional Certification requires 2000+ supervised direct patient care hours, completion of four Core Courses and passage of the iaedp Certification exam, among other requirements. The Equivalency Certification is available for professionals who have been practicing in the field of eating disorders as a licensed or registered clinician for five or more years and have already demonstrated expertise and significant contributions to the advancement of this field.

iaedp believes that professional certification as an eating disorders professional within your clinical discipline provides a multitude of professional and personal benefits to you, your clients and your community. Please join Tammy Beasley, RDN, CEDRD, CSSD, Director of Certification, to hear about certification benefits and discuss the steps required for both Traditional and Equivalency Certification so you are ready to begin the process towards becoming an iaedp Certified Specialist in Eating Disorders.
Tammy Beasley

Consultant, speaker, author, and registered dietitian Tammy Beasley has been a certified eating disorder specialist in nutrition (CEDRD) with the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp) since 1993 and received her certification in sports dietetics (CSSD) in 2007 (the first in Alabama).  Her unique perspective on wellness led to the creation of the RevItUP! for Life program, which has been taught by RDs in over 27 states. In 1995, Tammy received the Florida Dietetic Association's RYDY award while living in Miami. Years later, the Alabama Dietetic Association recognized Tammy in 2007 as the Outstanding Dietitian of the Year and in 2010 as the Dietetics Emerging Leader for her professional and community involvement after moving back home to Alabama.  In 2012, Tammy was asked to chair the new Advisory Board for Nutrition and Dietetics for Auburn University. Tammy currently serves as the iaedp Director of Certification, appointed in April 2013.

Become a Fellow of iaedp (F.iaedp)

You deserve to be recognized and validated as an experienced clinician and iaedp is committed to helping our members! The Board of Directors and Awards Committee created the Fellow of iaedp (F.iaedp), a new category of elevated membership status available to highly committed and accomplished professionals.

For consideration for elevated membership status as a Fellow of iaedp, candidates' collective contributions over time will be evaluated. Guidelines identify but are not exclusive to iaedp members of seven continuous years or more who have been in practice for a minimum of 15 years, are preferably Certified Eating Disorder Specialists and have demonstrated accomplishment and participation in the field through activities such as teaching, presentations, training, research, writing and innovative community projects. Each honoree will receive a special certificate of recognition and Fellow Members may include "F. iaedp" with his or her credentials. Award nominations and Fellow of iaedp applications are encouraged from members through forms provided online.  More information here
