Advocate and EDucate!

Eating disorders are serious, life-threatening illnesses that will impact 30 million people in the United States at some point in their life. Though eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness, they are among the most misunderstood issues affecting our country today. In spite of their prevalence, eating disorders research continues to be under-funded, insurance coverage for treatment is inadequate, and societal pressures to be thin remain rampant.

But, the good news is that your voice can help advocate for change - join the nearly 275 people already registered for NEDA's Federal Lobby Day, co-sponsored by AED and iaedp! By meeting with representatives in Congress and/or their staff to educate them on eating disorders and push for impactful legislation, you can shine the national spotlight on this issue and start a real conversation on how progress can be made. You have the knowledge and the passion, now use them to change the law! Come out and join us for NEDA's Federal Lobby Day!

NEDA's Federal Lobby Day - co-hosted by AED and iaedp - will take place on Thursday, October 10th at the Hyatt Regency Washington in conjunction with NEDA's 2013 Annual National Conference.

NEDA will schedule all of the appointments for you and prepare you with everything you need to make an impact. All you have to do is bring your enthusiasm and your friends! Participation is free and no experience is necessary. The day's activities will include lobby training from 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM, followed by lobbying appointments. All attendees will lobby in assigned teams-nobody will lobby alone!

You are also invited to attend NEDA's National Conference, Of Monumental Importance: Directing the National Spotlight on Prevention, Treatment, Research & Policy, taking place on October 10-12th, following Lobby Day. For those who are interested in attending both Lobby Day and the NEDA Conference, we are offering a promo code for these registrants to receive the early bird rate on conference registration. The code is iaedp2013 and can be used when registering for the Conference. Learn more about the NEDA Conference at www.nedaconference.org.

We hope to see you there!
