Dear Presidents,
We are implementing a new process to assure that information from our Presidents' Quarterly Meetings is read, understood and is communicated to your officeholders.
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing some of you again this year and meeting those of you who were new at the Symposium. These notes are from our Presidents' Breakfast and below is a list of the marketing ideas each table came up with.
After you read the following information please click on "Mandatory Survey" at the bottom of the page.
I appreciate each of you!
Alice Gibson, Chapter Director |

Table Assignments and Directions
Each table was given an envelope with the following questions and instructions:
What is the biggest challenge your chapter faces when marketing an event?
- You will have 10 minutes to discuss the marketing tips and ideas that your chapters use.
- Pick a spokesperson to present your results.
Challenges
Solutions
- Tweet
- FaceBook
- Website
- Newsletter - Constant Contact
- Personal phone calls-use motivated students to do this
- Incentivize early registration with earlybird pricing (different than higher price at the door)
- Have both a Marketing AND Social Media Chairs...who work closely together
- Each Board member forwards event announcements to personal listserves and/or mailing list(s)
- Develop Student Liaison position to help get message out to students and to increase attendance and membership by students
- Use postcard format for marketing material - then can use it as a mailer, emails, website, etc. (San Diego example)
- Have a flier for upcoming event(s) at each event
- Show ppt slides during current event about upcoming events
- Target your marketing to the audience(s) most likely to be interested. Ex: Dr.s for Med Assessment, parents for awareness and what to do to prevent, help children, etc.
- Invite presenters who are more cutting edge, better topics, bigger names
- Be aware of your competitions dates, locations, speakers, etc.
- Evaluate the fee you charge per event
- Arrange with professors for extra credit when students attend
- Have a database of marketing materials (templates?) from IAEDP
- Use QR codes in marketing materials directing them to website for more info
- Make an IEADP app for event and membership info, questions and to facilitate communications
- Make a brochure or flier of all events for the year, take to everything
- Newsletter to members
- Provide an insert with materials at the event that they can fill out to register or otherwise indicate interest in the upcoming events.
- Create database of brochures, handouts, posters, etc.
- Professors offering extra credit for involvement
- Bridge the age gap
