Commuter Rail Service Coming to NRH
 

The City of North Richland Hills is TEXcited about TEXRail! On Wednesday, city officials joined officials from Fort Worth, Grapevine and the Fort Worth Transportation Authority for the groundbreaking of the commuter rail line that will run from downtown Fort Worth to DFW Airport. There will be two TEXRail stations in NRH, one near Iron Horse Boulevard and Loop 820 and the other on Smithfield. Service could start by the end of 2018. Learn more at www.TEXRail.com

 
Public Hearings for Budget, Tax Rate

The City Council held public hearings for the proposed city budget and tax rate on August 22. If you were unable to attend the meeting, you can watch the online video. Also, the proposed budget may be viewed online.

The City Council will hold a second public hearing on the proposed tax rate on Monday, September 12, at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chamber on the third floor of City Hall at 4301 City Point Dr. Council meetings are open to the public and broadcast live on Citicable NRH.

The City Council reviewed the proposed FY 2016-17 budget during a work session on July 29, 2016. The budget is based on a proposed tax rate of 61 cents per $100 of property value, which is the current rate. The City Council is scheduled to formally adopt the budget and set the tax rate at their meeting on September 26, 2016.
 

NRH Library to Host Mid-Cities Teen Book Fest

The Mid-Cities Teen Book Fest will be a fun filled day for teens from around the North Texas area to meet and greet with nationally recognized authors, participate in writing activities and learn more about upcoming YA book releases. Teens from all over the state are welcome at the inaugural book festival on September 10 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the North Richland Hills Library, located at 9015 Grand Avenue. Authors Jenny Martin, Rachel Caine, Kory Merritt and Jessica Brody will all participate in an author panel and book signing and books will be available for purchase. for Road Runner 5K
 
You're invited to meet inspirational runner, author, coach and Olympian Jeff Galloway at the NRH Road Runner 5k on Saturday, October 1 and the evening before the race at a Runner's Reception on September 30. Registration for both events is open now at www.nrhroadrunner.com. This year's race will benefit the Community Enrichment Center and H.E.L.P Inc.
