City Offices Closed on Memorial Day;
Trash, Recycling Collection Unaffected 
  
City Hall and other non-emergency city offices will be closed Monday, May 30, 2016 for the Memorial Day Holiday. The NRH Public Library, Animal Adoption & Rescue Center, Senior Center and Richland Tennis Center will also be closed. The NRH Centre, Iron Horse Golf Course and NRH2O Family Water Park will be open on Memorial Day. Please check their websites for specific holiday hours. The trash and recycling collection schedule will not change for the holiday. Monday collections will be made as normal.
  
Pet Adoption Fees Reduced in June

June is National Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month. To celebrate, the North Richland Hills Animal Adoption & Rescue Center will reduce adoptions fees to $60 for kittens and puppies 6 moths and under and $20 for cats and dogs over 6 months of age. The adoption fee (normally $100) includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip and pet license.

The Animal Adoption & Rescue Center is located at 7301 Iron Horse Boulevard. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Monday. The center is closed on Sundays. Find more information and photos of adoptable pet at www.nrhtx.com/aarc

Mayor's Summer Reading Club Begins June 6

Join us for the Mayor's Summer Reading Club at the North Richland Hills Library! Participants will earn prizes for reading June 6 - July 30 and there will be weekly story times and special programs including: 
  • June 9: Critterman;
  • June 16: Mad Science "Spin, Boom, Pop!";
  • June 23: Mondo Drummers;
  • June 25: Zooniversity "Where the Wild Things Are";
  • June 30: David Slick, Guinness World Record Holding Juggler;
  • July 7: Daryl Sprout and His Snakes;
  • July 14: Dinosaur George;
  • July 21: "Make Music" with The Maker Spot.

"I Dig My Garden" Photo Contest 

Keep NRH Beautiful is hosting its 2016 "I Dig My Garden" Photo Contest through July 31. Entries must be photos from North Richland Hills residential or commercial properties. Categories include:
  • Balcony Bliss; 
  • Beautiful Backyard; 
  • Critters & Creatures; 
  • SmartScape; 
  • Outstanding Ornamentals;
  • Pretty Pond; 
  • and Voluminous Vegetables.
Entry forms are available at www.nrhtx.com/photocontest. Winning photos will be displayed on the city's website and the winner from each category will receive a $25 gift card from a local nursery. Questions can be directed to 817-427-6651.
