January 2015

Dear Cienega Families,

Happy New Year!

Second semester promises to be very busy for both our staff and students. Seniors need to remain strong with grades, SEP, and their college and career planning. Before we know it, graduation will be here.

As our seniors are making plans for after graduation, our freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will be choosing their classes for next year. Pre-registration begins the last week in January. The Course Selection Handbook will be finalized and available on the counselor link of our website the week of registration, and your student will be bringing home a course selection form for you to look through and sign. Please do not hesitate to contact your child's counselor if you have any questions regarding graduation requirements and suggested courses.

Winter sports have had a great year so far and will be wrapping up by mid-February. Our cheer team qualified for state championships and will be competing in Nationals in California. Additionally, spring sports will be starting in February. For those that are interested in signing up, please get your paperwork turned into the 400 building athletic office as soon as possible.

Our students and staff are always looking for ways to make our busy campus beautiful. We are grateful to have a program like the Green Team who have added 30 trees on and around our campus.

Thank you for your tax credit donations! Our extra-curricular programs and clubs have received many tax credit contributions in the last few weeks. We truly appreciate your support!

Sincerely,

Nemer Hassey

Principal

COPPER THUNDER SEASON
ENDS ON A HIGH NOTE!

Cienega High School's Copper Thunder marching band ended their season on a high note on December 27th when they marched in the 2014 Fiesta Bowl parade in Glendale, Arizona. For the first time in Cienega High School's history, the band was honored with an invitation to appear in the annual parade by the Fiesta Bowl Committee.  Led by Band Director, Jim Matsushino, they proudly represented the spirit of Vail.
