2. The EASEE-gas 2015 Annual Report of Activities is available

The EASEE-gas 2015 Annual Report of Activities, a brief publication outlining all the activities the association worked on during the past twelve months is available. It details the EASEE-gas Working Groups and Taskforces activities. The Business Process Working Group published new CBPs,  reviewed others and is about to publish new ones. The Technology Standards Working Group supervised the migration process of our security certificates and the upgrade from SHA1 to SHA2 hashed certificates. This project which started in June 2014 was successfully concluded in November 2015, allowing the 75 companies owing an EASEE-gas security certificate to be compliant with the new secured communication software. The Gas Quality Harmonisation Working Group participated in the discussions about the gas quality standard which was finally voted last September and will contribute to the Gas Quality Harmonisation Implementation Pilot Project, now lead by CEN and supported by the European Commission. Lastly, the Message and Workflow Design Working Group went the extra mile to reply to all requests of both ENTSOG and ACER. The Message Implementation Guidelines (MIG) on the Nomination and Matching Process at Interconnection Points (version 5.1) was published over the summer (download annual report here).

RoleModel
3. Gas Role Model Stakeholders Workshop in Brussels, 12 May

EASEE-gas organised on Thursday 12 May, a one-day stakeholders' consultation workshop on a role model for the gas sector. The gas role model is a unique document listing all the actors in the gas industry as well as all possible roles and business processes. This is a pioneer document and proves once again the strength and value of having all market segments represented in EASEE-gas. No other association could have accomplished this publication!

The event provided participants with a thorough explanation of the project, detailing the approach and the development process. The speakers presented an overview of the existing roles and examples were given for instance of the several duties of TSO (transport system operators), the duties of traders and suppliers as well as the duties of DSO (distribution system operators).

The presentation on the role model was followed by a presentation by ENTSOG on the Transparency Platform and on the role of market information aggregator. The audience welcomed the document considering it a useful tool for the industry. The designation of roles and parties was discussed at length and may lead to some adjustment in the final document.

Peter Meeuwis, chair of the EASEE-gas Executive Committee and Board member stated "I would like to thank all participants for their valuable input during this first consultation step and encourage all market players to provide their feedback to the EASEE-gas Task Force dedicated to the development of the gas role model."

EASEE-gas will present a consolidated version of the document at the Madrid Forum in October this year. The presentations of the event as well as the Role Model document and the comments form are available for download on the EASEE-gas website.

The working group elected Quentin Degroote as the new Chair with a one-year mandate. The board of EASEE-gas would like to thank the previous working group chair, Jan Hendrik Annema, for their excellent work and Klaas Hoekstra, the WG secretary, who managed the Working Group on an interim basis these last months.

Quentin has been working for Fluxys Belgium for ten years and is currently Key Account Manager, managing portfolios mainly located in France. He started working for the GQHWG in 2014 and is also part of gas quality working groups at ENTSOG, GIE, Marcogaz and CEN.
"In the recent years, Gas Quality Harmonisation has become an important subject with regards to networks interoperability and Security of Supply. I believe EASEE-gas can have a significant role in the current harmonization process and as chairman, I would like to help EASEE-gas take this role", said Quentin.
