Raising the Bar and Steadying the Super 8 Image: Pro8mm announces the launch of ImageMill Stabilization to the Millennium II Scanner
Pro8mm is thrilled to announce the addition of Steady ImageMill stabilization to our state-of-the-art Millennium II scanning suite, a tool that will forever change the way we look at Super 8 film used in production. Steady will offer significant improvement for Super 8 film, which has some inherent movement, often known as the "Super 8 jitter". This movement has been a challenge for decades for Super 8 camera work that is set on a tripod, dolly, crane or other camera stabilizing equipment. Super 8 does not behave well under these external stabilizing tools, but ImageMill stabilization will change that.

"Any Day Now," a 35mm film inspired by a true story, premiered at Paramount Studios last week for the cast, crew, and vendors. Written, directed and produced by Indie filmmaker Travis Fine of Famlee Film, LLC, the film is based on a script written by George Arthur Bloom more than 30 years ago. Set in 1979 and inspired by a true story, the film follows a gay couple who take in a teenager with Down Syndrome who has been abandoned by his drug-addicted mother. As the teen discovers the strong bonds of family for the first time, disapproving authorities step in to tear the boy from the only stable environment he has ever known, prompting the gay couple to fight against the system for the child. The use of Super 8 in the film was used to punctuate a memory type flashback sequence between the boy and the couple. The production company rented a Pro814 Super 8 camera and shot on Pro8/85 100D. Transferred to HD on our M2 scanner, the power of super 8 film gave a strong emotional relevance to the story. More details about the film and the trailer will be made available as released.
