Spring On Over to the Kitsap Peninsula

Spring is officially here and a wonderful time to get away to Spring Break getaway graphic the beautiful Kitsap Peninsula for the day, night or nice long weekend especially during Spring Break with the kids. There are lots of family fun activities to capture their imagination. In Poulsbo, learn about 100 species of marine plants and animals found in our Puget Sound waters at the Poulsbo Marine Science Center. The Tide pool touch tank allows you to interact with most of the animals you will find on your local beach walks.

In Keyport, learn about the wonders of the ocean world at the Naval Undersea Museum. Escape into the magical world of puppetry at the Valentinetti Puppet Museum or get bugged at the unique Bug Museum located directly across from the fleet of mothballed aircraft carriers in Bremerton.

The trail, cared for by volunteers, is alive with spring foliage, birds and wildlife.

Other locations offering big vistas include Point-No-Point Lighthouse and beach in Hansville, Manchester State Park and beach in South Kitsap, Port Orchard Marina & Waterfront Park, Bremerton's Evergreen Park, and Dog Fish Park in Poulsbo. illahee preserve Bird lovers, beach walkers and lovers of wildlife and nature will find plenty to explore and enjoy on the Kitsap Peninsula. Below are just a few ideas! For more places, visit our "Things to Do" Nature section.  


The lush, wooded trails of the Hansville Greenway and North Kitsap Heritage Park between Kingston and Indianola are wonderful urban retreats and enjoyed by hikers and canine pets alike.  A few "in town" favorites include Poulsbo's Fish Park and Clearcreek Trail in Silverdale--both provide pathways, and boardwalks to stroll easily with family and friends. The Illahee Preserve in Central Kitsap features nearly 700 acres of open space and habitat.  

 

In Port Orchard, Banner Forest Heritage Park encompass acres of walking and equestrian trails. Several miles west of Bremerton Green Mountain State Forest is surrounded by over 6000 acres of state forest with several well-maintained trails. In Belfair, enjoy Theler Wetlands, with over 135 acres - a favorite of hikers, birdwatchers and photographers alike.
