Walnut Creek Looks At Fee Hikes
The City of Walnut Creek has released updates to its affordable housing impact fee nexus studies and associated feasibility analyses for market-rate residential, rental and commercial development. Based on the fee studies, city staff has recommended a series of policy changes and fee increases. Full Story
Housing Bond Meeting Set
The Alameda County Board of Supervisors is holding stakeholder meetings to explore the placement of a countywide general obligation housing bond on the November 2016 ballot. The second meeting will be held on April 13, 2016, starting with sign-in at 5:45 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6 p.m. It will be held at the San Leandro Library's Karp Room, 300 Estudillo Ave. in San Leandro. Oakland To Hold Housing Fee Hearing
The Oakland City Council will hold a public hearing on April 19, 2016, to consider a proposed new affordable housing impact fee program. Expected to go into effect on Sept. 1, 2016, the fee ranges from $750 to $7,000 per unit, depending on location. (The city is divided into three geographic zones.) Fees are proposed to increase again in July 2017 and July 2018, eventually reaching a range of $13,000 per unit to $24,000 per unit. Full Story
Union Sanitary To Update Fees
Serving Fremont, Newark and Union City, the Union Sanitary District  has released an updated connection fee study and is recommending increases of 53 to 59 percent over the course of the next four years. The Union Sanitary District Board of Directors is set to consider the fee hikes at its meeting on April 25, 2016Full Story
Palo Alto Affordable Housing Fees Stakeholder Meeting
Following BIA objections to the lack of communication regarding extraordinary fee hikes, City staff has finally scheduled a stakeholder outreach meeting. Back in February the Palo Alto City Council Finance Committee, a four member subcommittee of the Council, reviewed a Staff recommendation to sharply raise affordable housing fees on nearly all development. Full Story
San Jose Envision 2040 General Plan Update
The Envision San Jose 2040 4-Year Review Task Force has adopted a set of recommendations that will be submitted to the San Jose City Council for final consideration in fall 2016.  Full Story
