PG&E Hosts Meeting With BIA|Bay Area
A handful of seats are available for a luncheon meeting with representatives of PG&E to discuss a variety of utility-related challenges the residential development industry is experiencing in the Bay Area. Hosted by PG&E, the meeting will be held on Oct. 21, 2015,  from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Gangnam Cafe, 1035 Detroit Ave., Suite 300, in Concord. A tour of PG&E's new statewide high-tech electrical grid management center - located across the street - will follow. PG&E will provide lunch. Space is limited. Pleasanton Looks To Update Fee Studies
The Pleasanton City Council is poised to hire Economic & Planning Systems, Inc., to conduct a comprehensive development impact fee study at a cost of $135,070. EPS will update the city's nexus studies for public facilities, traffic development, park dedication, water/sewer connection fees and affordable housing, according to a staff report published for the council's meeting on Oct. 20, 2015. Emeryville Poised To Hike Housing Costs
Despite strong warnings from BIA|Bay Area and members of the residential development community about the negative economic impacts, the Emeryville City Council is preparing to hike its affordable housing impact fee and adopt a slate of new and revised regulations that will drive up the cost of housing. BIA|Bay Area will continue to argue that imposing higher costs on residential construction will exacerbate the region's worsening housing crisis. Full Story
Walnut Creek Moves On CUP Changes
Walnut Creek is proceeding with its plan to eliminate a regulatory provision that allowed for the development of multi-family residential projects on certain commercially zoned parcels through a conditional use permit. Instead, developers would be required to seek a general plan amendment and obtain a favorable vote from the City Council. Full Story
CCWD Considers 4 Percent Fee Hikes
The Contra Costa Water District's draft facility reserve charge study update recommends connection fee increases of 9 percent increase in the untreated water per-unit fee from $4,936 to $5,371 and a 3 percent increase in the treated water fee from $14,030 to $14,392. This will result in a combined 4 percent increase from $18,966 per unit to $19,763 per unit for new development within the district's boundaries.  Full Story
