Oakley Seeks to Reinstate Pre-Recession Impact Fees

BIA|Bay Area will ask the Oakley City Council to spread the resumption of its pre-Recession traffic and park fees over two years rather than return immediately to the higher fees on July 1, 2015. If the City Council concurs at its meeting on May 26, 2015, proposed 180 percent fee increases of $14,975 for single-family houses would ramp up over suggested six-month increments. Full Story 

Oakland Committee To Review 'Housing Equity Roadmap'

Acting City Administrator Claudia Cappio - also the former California Housing and Community Development Director - will deliver to an Oakland City Council subcommittee on May 26, 2015, her proposed affordable housing plan. The Oakland Community and Economic Development Committee is scheduled to consider the housing action plan and report, entitled "Oakland Housing Equity Roadmap, A Comprehensive Action Plan To Address Oakland's Displacement, Affordable Housing Production And Housing Habitability Challenges."  Full Story

Emeryville Considers 'Family Friendly' Design Rules

The Emeryville Planning Commission is scheduled to hold on May 28, 2015, a follow-up study session on proposed multi-family development regulations, incentives and guidelines intended to make projects more "family-friendly." The proposed package also includes affordable housing and ownership housing incentives through a bonus point system Full Story 

Pleasanton Stops Work On Eastside Specific Plan

Nearly all work on the East Pleasanton Specific Plan has been suspended at the direction of the Pleasanton City Council, whose members voted 3-1 to ask voters in November 2015 whether or not the city should proceed with the plan. A BIA|Bay Area representative and others urged the city to stick with its planning process and focus on finding solutions to the common challenges of schools, traffic and water. Full Story

Central Contra Costa Sanitary District Recommends Fee Changes

The Central Contra Costa Sanitary District staff is proposing a mix of fee hikes and reductions to go into effect on July 1, 2015. While residential capacity or connection charges would increase only slightly, the district is seeking broad changes in its other fees. For example, a basic application fee would go up 16.5 percent from $115 to $134; the annexation fee would increase 8 percent from $485 to $524; and a mainline plan review would rise from $2,506 to $3,246, or 29.5 percent.  Full Story

Hope for the Homeless Event is another Huge Success!   

Thank you to the 785 HomeAid supporters who attended the HomeAid event on Friday night featuring Lily Tomlin and The Sun Kings. The Live Appeal to fund the gap for the DreamCatcher shelter for homeless teens in Oakland raised over $38,000!! This annual event raises the funds necessary to build shelters for the homeless in partnership with the home building industry.
