Cupertino Affordable Housing Impact Fees

Housing Impact Fees are on the agenda for the next meeting of the Cupertino City Council. On Tuesday, May 5th the Council will weigh considerable hikes to existing housing mitigation fees. In May 2014, the City Council authorized a nexus study update project to modify existing housing mitigation fees for residential and non-residential (office, retail, hotel, research and development (R&D) and industrial) development. Full Story  

Plan Bay Area Open House in San Jose

Plan Bay Area will be presenting an open house on Wednesday, May 6th at the Berryessa Community Center, 3050 Berryessa Road, San Jose. Bay Area residents who attend these open houses will have the opportunity to view displays and offer comments on long-term goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from cars and light-duty trucks, house the region's projected population, improve public health, maintain the region's transportation infrastructure and preserve open space, among others. Full Story  

San Jose To Study Employment Land Conversions, General Plan Review, and Urban Villages

The San Jose City Council will continue studying the history of employment land conversions to residential uses at its meeting set for May 12, 2015 and 7:00pm. The council will consider the fiscal impact of different land uses, and provide an overview of the purpose and process for the annual and four-year reviews of the city's General Plan.  Full Story  

BIA To Host Green Building Forum

Got questions about California's updated green building code? And what is 'net zero' all about? Find out what you need to know to navigate the state's evolving energy efficiency regulations at a special BIA|Bay Area Green Building Forum set for  7:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Featured speakers include Build It Green Senior Program Manager Amy Dryden. The breakfast forum will be held at the Pleasanton Marriott, 11950 Dublin Canyon Road in Pleasanton near the intersections of Interstate 580 and Interstate 680. Breakfast will be provided and there is no charge to attend, but reservations are required. Visit www.BIABayArea.org to reserve a seat. 

Oakley Water Agency Proposes Drought Restrictions

The Diablo Water District - an Oakley-based water company in eastern Contra Costa County - is proposing to establish a specific water budget for new construction landscape irrigation in response to its state-mandated 28 percent consumption target. Specifically, the district is considering a limit of 90 gallons per day on average April through November and 25 gallons per day over seven consecutive days in December through March. Full Story

HomeAid Essentials for Young Lives Drive, Now Through May 7 

Join the movement to help families and their children who are homeless by donating Essential items such as diapers, wipes, food, and care items today!  All across the Bay Area, builders are hosting drives to collect these items for the homeless in our community.  Help HomeAid collect diapers and baby food for families in need by dropping off your donations on Thursday, May 7th from 12 to 4 at Elite Builder Services in Livermore!  For more info, click here or contact kfischer@homeaidnc.org for collection boxes.
