San Mateo County Multicity Affordable Housing Nexus Study

In 2014, 14 jurisdictions in San Mateo County commissioned a planning consultant to produce affordable housing nexus and feasibility studies for all of the cities in the County. BIA Bay Area members are now invited to attend a meeting and presentation of preliminary work on the San Mateo County multicity affordable housing nexus and feasibility studies, coordinated through 21 Elements. The meeting will include a presentation from the consulting team, distribution of study materials, and a question and answer period. Full Story  

City of San Jose Affordable Housing Impact Fee

The City of San Jose Housing Department has released an update on the Affordable Housing Impact Fee (AHIF) including detailed information on the pipeline exemption process and potential fees associated with implementing the AHIF and other programs. On November 18, 2014, the San Jose City Council established an AHIF of $17 per net square foot on all market-rate multi-family housing developments of three or more units that have not pulled all building permits by June 30, 2016. Full Story
