Children's House All School News

May has arrived! Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful moms, grandmas and care-takers. Thank you for sharing your precious children with us!   

It is hard to believe how quickly the year has flown by; our classrooms are fully immersed in the learning process and concentration is just as focused as ever.  This month all three classrooms will begin working outdoors in the garden area located just west of our school, enjoy all the benefits of the outdoor classroom and finish up lessons for the year.  

Please send your child to school with sunscreen applied; we will touch up during the mid-day outside time. We advise you to pack a hat if your child will wear one.   Also keep in mind that we spend a good deal of time outdoors working with water, soil and other materials that could potentially stain or soil clothing, an extra set of clothes is encouraged.  Please guide your child into choosing clothing they don't mind getting "messy".

Fall Registration Update:  Friday May 15th--8am-3pm at Children's House-This is the day to come in and fill out your child's Fall Enrollment Packet, CPP or Head Start Applications if applicable, ASQ (Development Screening), provide copies of required records, etc. If you have not filled out a registration form for Fall, I encourage you to do so immediately.  We are looking at a full house next school year. 

Many thanks to PTO (Stacey Weyand family, Trena Murphy, and Cari & Sarah Spoonemore) for all the behind the scenes work you did for Teacher Appreciation Week!  What a wonderful surprise the staff received this morning when we entered the building.  The staff were all tickled and have been admiring the quotes and stylish coloring pages from our young friends.  Your (PTO & All Children's House Families) support filled up our cups and we are ready to finish out the year STRONG! 

Speaking of staff, Debbie Effert our Campus Assistant will be out for the remainder of the school year; she is having knee surgery that will require several weeks of recovery.  Gabbi Mischke & Toni Lard will finish out the year with us and assume Debbie's role alternately.  Good Luck Debbie, well wishes for a speedy recovery!

  • Friday May 22nd-NO SCHOOL-Staff work day

  • Tuesday June 2nd-All School Field Trip to Denny Lake Park-Drop Off & Pick Up will be at the Park that day.  If you normally receive FARM Lunch, please pack a lunch that day. 
  • Friday June 5th-Last day of school


VERY IMPORTANT-Mark your calendars now! Families that receive District Lunch on Mon., Wed., & Fri.- starting on May 22nd  you will need to pack a lunch for your child.  The District Kitchens will close on the 21st which is when the rest of the District Schools close for summer break.  Children's House, along with Children's Kiva Montessori Charter School will resume our regular schedule through June 5th.

We need your help! It's Election time for the PTO! We are trying to fill up our ballot. We are still in need of a Vice President, Fundraising Director, Assistant Fundraising Director, Health and Wellness Liaison, and room coordinators for Canyon Room, Upper and Lower Elementary.  


The job roles and expectations are attached for your convenience. Job training and mentorship will be provided, no prior skills required, just excited willing parents! As we are joint school PTO, we strive to have a balance of elected officers from each campus. Currently we do not have any elected or nominated officer from the Upper Elementary Classroom. We would love to have the prospective of our experienced Upper Elementary parents. If any of these position interest you please feel free to join us! Parents of all grade levels are encourage to run! If you can not take on an official role but still want to be involved remember you can always contact us with celebrations, ideas, or concerns!


If you are willing to take on any of these PTO positions (even the ones with current nominees) please email the and we will add you to the ballot today!  This is a self nomination process and all names need to be submitted by 8 p.m. May 2nd.


Early voting will begin via google forms Monday May 4th and close on Election day at PTO meeting May 12th 5:30 p.m.  Don't have access to internet at home? NO WORRY! From our Board of Directors.....

Greetings from the Children's House Board of Directors!  We are staying busy this time of the year helping our director Alexia and Business Manager Susan with budgets for 2015-2016.  We are also trying to plan ahead for growth in our programs and school.  We are bringing on new board members in the next few months and will introduce you to them in the early summer when a new board is seated!

We meet the third Monday of the month at 5:00pm at the Elementary/Middle School, 510 North Beech St., all are welcome to attend.


Your questions, concerns and ideas are important; please come see me. I am available in the office Monday through Friday, 8am-3:30pm except during school closure, via email at, or at 970-565-8586 during office hours. I attend frequent meeting during the week so if I miss you, please leave me a message, I will get back to you. When I am out of the office, instructions on who to direct inquiries to is available on the white board posted outside the office door.
