CMCBD, Partners Announce Turk & Taylor Project
In December, CMCBD, in collaboration with the Mid Market Business Association (MMBA) and City of San Francisco's Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) announced the Turk & Taylor Project. The project aims to bring a world-class public art installation to San Francisco's Turk Street between Market and Taylor. The art will serve as an invitation to the Tenderloin while also enhancing way-finding and public safety during the 24 months of construction at 950-974 Market. One Million Bike Rides
As reported by SF Bay News, the bike trips counted on eastbound Market Street between 9th and 10th Streets surpassed the 1 Million mark in December, over 150,000 than the previous year according to SFMTA. Read more on SF Examiner.
Vision Zero Update
Toward the end of Quarter 4, SF Examiner reported on a San Francisco County TransportationAuthority Vision Zero committee meeting. Supervisor Jane Kim commended the early completion of 22 Vision Zero projects. It was also announced that several corridors, including Market and 6th Streets, would see projects designed to enhance pedestrian safety in 2016. Tom Macguire, director of sustainable streets for SFMTA called for focus on excessive speeding. The Vision Zero efforts seek to eliminate all traffic deaths by 2024 in San Francisco.

Development & Design
In October, SF Chronicle's urban design critic, John King, imagined the future aesthetics of Market Street in this this write up, which examined the significance of design in regards to the continued revitalization of Central Market. In particular, King looked at three major projects along Market Street between 6th and 7th Streets. Pictured to the right are the latest renderings for 1028 Market Street.
 1321 Mission Street
San Francisco Magazine reports the City's first approved high-rise micro unit building has been leased entirely to students of the Conservatory of Music and California College of the Arts. Each school respectively leased five floors of the building for their students.
 Crowdfunding 1095 Market Street
York-based developer, Synapse Management Group, opened a crowdfunding campaign for their project at 10 95 Market Street. The group, along with partners Aqarat and luxury hotel chain YOTEL, is in the process of transforming the historic Grant Building at Market and 7th Streets into a 200+ room boutique hotel. 1075 Market Street
Reported by SF Examiner and Hoodline, SF Planning Commission voted unanimously to approvethe demolition of the former Market Street Cinema complex in October. Planned in its place will be an 8-story residential complex. The project is slated to hold 90 units and 8500 square feet of ground retail space.

CBD Holiday Party
For the second year in a row, the Central Market, Civic Center and Tenderloin CBDs combined for a lovely holiday party. Held at the Hotel Whitcomb's Ghirardelli Room, guests enjoyed music, mingling and more as community partners, Laura Stepping and Hillary Tyree of Silicon Valley Bank, were presented with the 2015 Golden Brick Award for their service to the Central Market community. Benefit for the Turk & Taylor Project
In December, the Mid Market Business Association sponsored a special benefit to launch the Turk & Taylor Project. Beginning at SHN's Golden Gate Theatre for a performance of A Gentlemen's Guide to Love and Murder, guests then enjoyed a post-performance party with the cast at The Mezz at WeWork (25 Taylor Street).
Gene Friend Rec Improvement Project
Following a land use feasibility study and a series of focus groups and community meetings, several concept designs for Gene Friend Recreation Center were unveiled in October. Community meetings continued to inform the process, with a call for feedback towards the end of Quarter 4. The project is tentatively scheduled for Rec and Park approval in April 2016.
