News from Surry Village Charter School
August 5, 2016
Thank You...
to Pat G. for fulfilling the maximum term of six years of Board membership, with three of those years as board chairperson.  Pat has been and will continue to be an active member of our community as a parent, board member and charter school proponent and we are so grateful!  She has provided experienced leadership to our Board that has proven to be invaluable.  We are thankful that she will continue to serve on the SVCS facility committee as well as being a parent to one of our students.

Pat is an incredible person who has demonstrated her dedication to SVCS with her time and sharing of knowledge.  Patricia is...

August 31st is Approaching

Lots of happenings at SVCS over the summer months.  Floors are getting cleaned, staff are getting professional development training, staffing is getting finalized and more!

We're excited to announce the hiring of Maggie Vescio and MagpieArt as our integrated arts instructor(s).  Maggie and her team of artists will be bringing; two and three dimensional design basics, color theory, survey of basic media- wet and dry, historical and current reference materials, critique and conversation. Media will include fabric, heritage crafts unique to New Hampshire and New England, paint, clay, drawing basics, collage and assemblage. There will also be a unit on culinary arts focused on a cross cultural exploration of food as art.  Maggie will be meeting with SVCS teachers before schools starts to plan units that will be integrally connected to our project-based learning. Welcome back Maggie!

We are also excited that Trinity Underwood will be returning to the Keene Campus as 7th/8th grade classroom assistant.  Trinity joined us in late April and jumped right into our school culture.  She is looking forward to spending more time with our students in 2016-2017.
Meet and Greet/Back to School Clean-up
We are planning a time for families to meet our new 1st/2nd grade classroom teacher sometime during the week of August 22nd.  Details to come.  We'll piggyback that time with some Surry Campus back to school clean-up.
Back to School Shopping
Ready for some back-to-school shopping?  The classroom lists are posted on the school's website, www.surryvillagecharterschool.org under the "Our Classrooms" menu or click below.
