Who's Who and Who Does What
In an effort to clarify the roles of our staff members, here is some helpful information about the folks you might be interacting with during the school year.

Assistant Director - Carol Menck Keefe is responsible for SVCS instructional quality, curricular integrity, alignment with our Village School Approach, behavior intervention, and teacher supervision.  She is also an initial contact for Title I and SPED decisions relating to curriculum.

Director - Matora Fiorey is responsible for school policy decisions, finances, the physical plant, before/aftercare, and enrollment, and serves as the liaison between the SVCS Board and the school.  She is ultimately responsible for the entire school so is informed about all aspects.

Office Manager - Nicole Conroy is responsible for information flow from parents to office and vice versa.  She keeps track of attendance, pizza money, Friday Folders, all school field trips, and the list goes on and on.  She also does some nursing duties and custodial duties.  Nicole does the majority of our ordering and compiles billing information for our paid programming.

Special Education Liaison/Consulting Child Psychologist - Barbara Bryce is responsible for coordinating Special Education services with local districts and serves as a consulting psychologist on those teams.  See below for more information or click here.

Rock Star Parking
Congrats to Maddie R for her on time arrival the first week of school and winning the Rock Star raffle.  Please enjoy the parking space in front of the kitchen door in Surry for the month of September.

And keep up the good to work to all our families.  Just have a few that need to leave the house 10 minutes earlier so they can get in the raffle next month.

Olivia Guerriero, Anne's daughter and a former SVCS student, is selling mums for Interact.  They are huge and only $7.00!   If you would like some, please email Anne ([email protected]) and she will deliver to the Keene or Surry campus.

Thanks to Tom Julius, you could win this awesome bike!  We are so grateful for this raffle donation item.  Tickets are available by ordering online (click here) or purchase in person at either our Keene or Surry office.

Get one ticket for $5.00 or 5 for $20.00.  The winning ticket will be drawn at All School Gathering on Friday, September 18th.

SVCS Parent Handbook
Please take some time to read through the SVCS Parent Handbook and fill out the Sign Off form. It's great to review the handbook each year.

Click here to access the SVCS Parent Handbook or find it on our website.  Just let Nicole or Matora know if you'd like a hardcopy.

Click here after you've read the handbook.

Before school drop-off in Surry
If you are dropping off in Surry before 8:15 a.m., please be sure to check your child into beforecare or wait on the playground with them until a staff member is present.  We want to make sure all of our students are supervised and safe.  Thanks so much!

Barbara Bryce
BarbaraBryceDear SVCS Parents and Families,

I am writing to introduce myself (to those of you who don't know me) and to share about my part-time staff position providing psychological consultation and special education administrative support for the staff and families of the SVCS. In my work life, I am a NH licensed clinical psychologist specializing in psychotherapeutic treatment and consultation for children, adolescents and their families. I have been working with children and families for over 30 years in a variety of settings, and consult regularly with schools as part of my private practice. In my personal life I am the mom of graduate AJ and also the spouse of founding SVCS Board member Tom Julius.

This will be my 10th year providing psychological consultation at SVCS. This is my 9th year as a SVCS staff member serving as the Special Education Liaison to sending school districts for SVCS students identified with special needs, and as the 504 Case Manager for regular education students who have a 504 Plan. My duties include:

----Support of educational planning for students identified with special needs, including attending school team meetings, and assisting teachers in developing and reviewing Individual Education Plans and 504 Plans. We are very fortunate to have two terrific special educators on staff: master educator Joanne Dexter, providing special education and Title 1 services at the Surry elementary level, and Kirsten Smith in our middle school program at the Keene SVCS campus with some work in Surry, as well.
----Coordinate our staff Child Support Team where we keep track of all our students and their needs.
---- I provide consultation regarding social/emotional and developmental issues for students, including classroom support and behavioral strategies. My favorite part of this job is getting to spend time in the classrooms whenever possible, observing, addressing topics such as friendship building, strategies to calm down and stay alert in school, accepting differences in ourselves and others, and respectful interactions.
----Providing services referral information for staff and parents for community resources.
----Assisting in the development and implementation of Social Curriculum programs and student policies.

I am delighted to be able to use my professional training to help out our school and its wonderful students, staff and families. Please feel free to catch me or call me with any questions or concerns. You can best reach me at my Keene office number at 357-1180 ext. 11 (where you can leave a confidential message at anytime), or by e-mail at < [email protected]>.

Looking forward to another great year!

Barbara Bryce, Psy.D.
