Announcements, announcements!

**Next edition:  Fall Festival Recap!

**SVCS alum Dora F. is selling pumpkins to benefit Rotary/Interact, a Keene High community service organization. Pumpkins are $3 each. They can be delivered to the school. If interested, contact Simcha at

simchafisher@gmail.com or call 542-2040.

**Missing Library Book:  Several days ago 3rd-grader Robert K. misplaced a library book from the Keene Public Library. It is Spacehedz, Book 2, by Jon Scieszka. If anyone has seen it, could you return it to Robert or, in a pinch, to the Keene Library, in which case please let Robert or Ada know.

**Second-grader Nate raised $260 toward a team total of $2,085 for the Keene Walk for MS on Sept. 27, and walked the 5 miles with the team. Wahoo! Way to go, Nate!

**8th-grader Macy W. has been working with the Historical Society of Cheshire County to create a traveling exhibit about the archaeology field school held this summer. As part of the new Youth Curator initiative at the Society, Macy worked with staff to select and label artifacts and design and install the exhibit and its hands-on activities. This week there was an opening reception of the exhibit, called "Quenching Our Thirst," on Wednesday evening at the Society. Congratulations, Macy! Next stop, the Louvre!

**The wonderful Monet Handbags fundraiser for the Surry Village Charter School will continue through this weekend. Just think, you can relax in your jammies with a cup of coffee and design a one-of-a-kind handbag, all while helping support your favorite school! There are many great gift options, as well. Did you see those fabrics?? They're GORGEOUS!

Make sure your purchase is credited to SVCS by using the link below and putting "SVCS Fundraiser" in the notes while checking out. Share the link with friends and family, too, so that they can help support SVCS!

Former parent Katie Brown will be making an additional donation to SVCS for every "design studio" event booked through the fundraiser. She'll bring the design studio to you! Gather a few friends to share a few light snacks & a bottle of wine and enjoy an evening creating amazing handbags together. You can contact her through the website above, or call (603)756-9827.

Thanks so much for supporting SVCS! Enjoy!

Pumpkin Festival Donations

We need your Free and Reduced forms!

Please please please take a moment to fill out the Free and Reduced Meal Forms or sign off that you aren't eligible and RETURN them to an SVCS Office near you. This is important even though we don't have a school lunch program. Here's why:

If your family is deemed eligible for free or reduced-price school meals, then your family is also able to access funding from the Elijah Barrett Scholarship. Scholarship funds can be used for afterschool programs such as art, band and field trips.

In addition, with a certain percentage of our population eligible for free and reduced lunches, we're able to receive significant additional state funds. These funding sources make a huge difference for our school! So we need your forms pronto, por favor!

Volunteer Sign-Ups

Two ways to support your child and have fun, too!

Pumpkin Carving:

In order to help support the Pumpkin Festival (and to have some fun too), we'll be carving 100 pumpkins Wednesday, October 15th from 2:00-3:30 (Thursday the 16th is the rain date). Please consider coming to Surry to help set up and supervise the carving. We're looking for 10-15 people. If you can't make it, consider sending some carving tools. We've found that those wire dog brushes make awesome pumpkin-gut scrapers. Can't wait to spell out "Surry Village Charter School"!  Click here to sign up.

Pumpkin Festival Booth:

Just three weeks until the Keene Pumpkin Festival! Please consider signing up for a shift at our food booth. Our pumpkin sausage soup, pulled pork, and apple crisp are legendary! We need as much help as we can get, and this is a fun way to get in those volunteer hours. Sign up to help by clicking here.

Art with Jean Mann

There will be either 2 or 3 art classes this fall led by our wonderful art teacher friend, Jean Mann. They are scheduled to start on Wednesday, October 22 for grades 3-4; on Thursday, October 23, grades 5-8. Depending on interest, there may also be a K-2 class.

Classes run for 6 weeks from 3:30-4:30 p.m., and the cost is still $60. Sign-up sheets will go home soon for the two scheduled classes. You may also email Jean at roseofsharon@localnet .com ahead of time or if your K-2 child is interested.

Quotable Quotes

Nicole to 2 Kindergartners: "How do you like being at school here?"

The first K: "I LOVE it! I wish we even had it on Saturday!"

The second: "Me, too!"

As we instituted precautionary anti-lice measures, one first-grade girl approached Sharon, a concerned frown on her face. "Sharon," she said, "What's up with this Lysol thing?"

Thank you thank you thank you!

Sacred Chamber Process

The Sacred Chamber Process is a phenomena that was established in India. Since the beginning of 2014, it is being introduced to the rest of the world. This is because the shift of awakening has accelerated on Earth; people are prepared to deepen their relationship with the Divine! The Sacred Chambers are an opportunity for you to deepen your connection with the Divine (your Higher Self).

There is NO COST to go through the Sacred Chamber Process. This is a gift to Humanity from the Divine. You must sign up and have a confirmed appointment. Please read more about the Sacred Chambers and how to prepare at taproothealing.org before you sign up.
