Canadian National Teams Return from Tournaments

Three of our Canadian National Teams are coming off of a very busy month, full of lots of international hockey matches!
The Junior Women's National Team were in Trinidad & Tobago for the Pan American Junior Championships from March 31st to April 9th. The team finished 4th at the tournament, after a tough semi-final loss to a brilliant Argentina team and then a close Bronze Medal match loss to Chile. Unfortunately, with the loss to Argentina the team was knocked out of a berth to the Junior World Cup as only the top two teams qualified.
The Senior Women's National Team were in New Zealand for the Hawkes Bay Festival of Hockey from April 2nd - 10th. This 8 team Invitational Tournament was a great test for the Canadian Women as they faced off against several top-ranked teams in the World. In their first game of the tournament, Canada was able to upset 9th-ranked Korea 2-1. They also came away with narrow 1-0 losses to 5th-ranked China and 13th-ranked India. Canada finished the tournament in 8th, but demonstrated that they can truly play with some of these international powerhouses.

The Senior men's National Team were in Malaysia for the 2016 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup from April 6th - 16th. At the 7-team Invitational tournament, Canada faced off against 4 teams that will be joining them at the 2016 Olympics Games in Rio. Canada finished 6th at the tournament, matching their tournament ranking, with a record of 1-2-4, however all of their matches were close with most ending with a 2 goal margin. The Men's team will now regroup and train before their final pre-Olympics tour to Europe in June.
