Canadian National Teams on Tour
April is set to be a very busy month for Team Canada!
The Senior Women's National Team have recently landed in New Zealand for two test matches against the New Zealand Blacksticks ahead of the Hawkes Bay International Tournament. The test matches will be played on march 27th & 28th and the tournament will run from April 2nd-10th. Canada will play pool matches against Korea (No. 9), Japan (No. 10) and Australia (No. 3). This tour offers Canada a great opportunity to continue their steady path of improvement and to see where they rank against some of the best teams in the world! The Junior Women's National Team begin their quest for a Junior World Cup berth at the Junior Pan American Championships on March 30th in Trinidad & Tobago. They will face off against Bermuda, Mexico, Venezuela, USA and T&T in pool play before hopefully advancing to the quarter-finals. The top two teams from this tournament will qualify for the Junior World Cup at the end of 2016. There will be 7 athletes representing BC at this tournament. The Senior Men's National Team are set to travel to Malaysia for the Azlan Shah Cup in April. This prestigious invitational tournament has become a staple in the Canadian team's yearly schedule. This year it will be extra important as it will serve as one of their last tune-ups before the Olympic Games in August. In Malaysia, they will be joined by other Olympic-qualified teams, Australia (No. 1), India (No. 7) and New Zealand (No. 8). Pakistan (No. 10), Malaysia (No. 13) and Japan (No. 16) will also be competing at the Azlan Shah Cup.
