Field Hockey BC Foundation
The Pat Hall Officials Development Award
FHBC is proud to announce the creation of a new financial assistance award within the Field Hockey BC Foundation. Created as a legacy fund in recognition of Pat Hall's 50 years of service and support to field hockey in Canada, and especially to the development of field hockey on Vancouver Island, the 'Pat Hall Officials Development Award' will enable financial assistance in the promotion and development of Officiating for the Vancouver Island field hockey community.

The FHBC Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Field Hockey BC, providing financial assistance and support to athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and event hosts. If you are considering a charitable donation with tax relief benefits for 2015, perhaps the FHBC Foundation could be a beneficiary. More information including an on-line donation portal can be accessed via www.fhbcfoundation.com.

Canadian Men Finish 8th at World League Finals
The Canadian Men's National Team recently returned home from the FIH Hockey World League Finals in Raipur, India. Canada, ranked 14th in the World, was the 8th seed in the tournament, and were up against 7 of the top 8 teams in the World. The team showed flashes of brilliance and strong determination, and had close games against Great Britain (ranked 4th) and the Netherlands (ranked 2nd). Canada now shifts their focus towards preparations for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

FIH Hockey Stars - Vote for Team Canada Athletes!
The International Hockey Federation has opened voting for it's 2nd Annual Hockey Stars! These awards are given to the best player, coach and umpire in a given year. The Athete of the Year Awards are broken down into 3 categories - Player of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year and Rising Star of the Year. Each of these awards are voted on by the fans! Coach of the Year and Umpire of the Year Awards are voted on by peers. This year, there are 3 Canadian Team members up for awards, 2 of which you can vote for now!

David Carter, Canadian goalkeeper phenom and FHBC's Senior Male Athlete of the Year, is a nominee for Male Goalkeeper of the Year. After an outstanding 2015, and a heroic shootout performance that ultimately resulted in Olympic Qualification, David is very deserving of this award. Vote for David Carter here.

Sukhi Panesar, Canadian midfielder and former star of FHBC Junior Programs, is a nominee for Male Rising Star of the Year. Sukhi has had a great year with the Canadian Men's Team, in which he has time and again proved he has remarkable offensive flair and crafty stick skills. Vote for Sukhi Panesar here.

Steph Andrews, Canadian Women's Senior National Team assistant coach and Junior National Team head coach, is a nominee for Coach of the Year. Since joining the Women's Program at the beginning of 2015, Steph has had a big impact on the Canadian Team and helped them achieve a Bronze Medal at the 2015 Pan Am Games - the team's first Pan Am Medal since 1999!

Good luck to all 3 Team Canada members!
