2015 Girls Train to Compete Regional Tournament

The 2015 Girls Train to Compete Regional Tournament took place from April 24th-26th at UBC. The weekend was full of great hockey action between 6 highly competitive and skilled teams! In the end, the Stingrays (ISL) defeated the Jellyfish (NW) for the Gold Medal. The Barracudas (SE) edged out the Sharks (NW) to take the Bronze Medal. Finally, the Piranhas (Mix) beat the Alligators (NW) to take 5th Place. Congratulations to all athletes who competed in this exciting tournament!

2015 Team BC Programs - Provincial Team Selections

This summer, we will have 7 Provincial Tournaments competing in 3 different tournaments. The Train to Compete Boys Squad has been training for several weeks now, and will finish their program at the India Club Tournament in June. Two Train to Train Girls and two Train to Train Boys teams will play in the India Club Tournament, and set their sights on U16 Nationals in Brampton, Ont in July. This year, the T2T teams are especially lucky as they will be in the crowd for the medal matches at the Pan Am Games in Toronto! Finally, two Train to Compete Girls teams will compete at the U18 National Championships in Surrey in August.

2015 Vancouver International Tournament

From May 16th-18th, 21 teams joined us at Burnaby Lake West Sports Complex for the 2015 VIT! We had three divisions - the Women's Social Division, Women's Masters Division & the Mixed Social Division. The Queen Vics won the Women's Social Division, while Naimox won the Women's Masters Division. Burnaby Lake edged out the Okanagan in strokes to claim the Mixed Social Division title. The 2015 Spirit of Judy Broom Award was given to the Hotflash in the Women's Social Division. They were nominated by their peers as the team to best exemplify Judy's spirit of friendship, fair play and love of the game. We also held a special game for the 20th Anniversary of the Masters Division in the VIT.

2015 Club Championships

In association with clubs across the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island, we will be hosting 6 tournaments for junior teams throughout May and June. Thank you to all of the clubs and their volunteers who have offered their time and support. We truly could not hold these tournaments without you!

Canadian National Teams Stop in Toronto en route to World League Round 3

 

Both the Canadian Men's National Team and the Canadian Women's National Team are going through final preparations before they get to their respective World League Semi-Final Tournaments. 

 

The Men's National Team will take to the pitch in Buenos Aires, Argentina on June 3rd, in hopes of obtaining Olympic Qualification. Before they get to Argentina though, the team will spend 3 days in Toronto, getting acquainted with the new Pan Am pitch. They will train heavily at the new field from Wednesday May 27th to Friday May 29th in the hopes of gaining a home field advantage ahead of the Pan Am Games in July. The Women's National Team have their sights set on Olympic Qualification through World League Round 3 in Valencia, Spain from June 10th-21st. In preparation for this tournament, the Women are hosting the Irish Women's National Team in a 4-game test series at the new Pan Am pitch in Toronto. The teams will play on May 23rd and 24th at 3:00pm and then on May 26th and 27th at 6:00pm. This test series will also help the Canadian team get used to the field before the Pan Am Games in Toronto in July. The International Hockey Federation (FIH) recently wrote an article about Field Hockey BC alumna, Abigail Raye! This year, Abi has split her time between the Women's National Team in Vancouver (and abroad), and the Royal Wellington club team in Belgium. 2015 Toronto Pan Am and Parapan Am Games

The 2015 Pan Am Games are being held in Toronto from July 10th to 26th. The 2015 Parapan Am Games are from August 7th to 15th. 

The Canadian Men's and Women's Field Hockey Teams will be competing at the games, with the hope of winning the Gold Medal and Olympic Qualification. For more information on field hockey at the games, click here.
