Girls High School Provincial Championships
Girls AA and AAA High School Provincial Championships will be taking place over two weekends in November.
The Girls AA Championship will be held in Oliver (Southern Okanagan Secondary) from November 6-8, while the Girls AAA Championship will take place in West Vancouver (Ambleside/Rutledge Fields) from November 12-14.

Interested in becoming a Regional Umpire?
Register for Field Hockey BC's upcoming Regional Umpire Course taking place on November 13 & 17 at the Field Hockey BC office from 6:30-9:30pm. This course is designed for umpires currently holding a Provincial rating, who are interested in the first steps towards obtaining Regional certification. Registration for this course closes on Tuesday, November 11th. Register now!

UBC Thunderbirds and uVic Vikes podium at CIS Women's Field Hockey Championships
The University of British Columbia won their fourth straight CIS Championship, securing their gold medals after a 2-0 win over the Toronto Varsity Blues. The Thunderbirds' win made more history, as 5th year midfielder Poonam Sandhu becomes the first player to win five field hockey titles. In the bronze medal game, the University of Victoria Vikes had a 6-0 victory over Guelph for third place. A strong tournament finish for these two teams!

Welcome to Kathryn Pohran!
It is Field Hockey BC's pleasure to announce the appointment of Kathryn Pohran as the Society's new Member Service and Communications Coordinator. Kathryn, a graduate from the University of Ottawa's Sport Management program, joins Field Hockey BC from the Honda Indy Toronto, where she was responsible for Client Services and Ceremonies. UBC Thunderbirds are Canada West Champions
Once again, the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds have become the champs of Canada West, after a convincing 4-0 win over Calgary on October 19th. Led by first-time head coach Robin D'Abreo, this is UBC's 11th gold in the last 12 years at this event, and their 25th title in the program's history. Congratulations, UBC!

Four British Columbians inducted into Field Hockey Canada Hall of Fame
Field Hockey Canada has announced four extraordinary ambassadors of Canadian field hockey, all of which hail from British Columbia, who will be inducted into the inaugural Hall of Fame this year! The inductees include field hockey pioneer, Harry Warren, Women's National Team Alumni, Nancy Mollenhauer, Men's National Team Alumni, Paul "Bubli" Chohan, and field hockey builder and official, Sumesh Putra. Congratulations to these four individuals and thank-you for all your contributions to field hockey in Canada and British Columbia!

BC Officials Go International!
Two officials have been representing Canada at the International Hockey Federation's Hockey World League: Madge Johnson as a Technical Officer, and Gillian Horgan as an Umpire. As well, for this year's Asian Games (which took place in Incheon, Korea) Megan Robertson was appointed as a Neutral Umpire. We congratulate these officials on their continued successes in the sport!
