In this year's edition, you can read about the launch of our new NCCP coaching pathway, field hockey championship results, and our athlete programs. At our 7th Annual Awards Banquet, Field Hockey BC recognized 23 amazing individuals for their athlete achievement, coaching, officiating, and outstanding voluntary contribution that has helped drive our sport forward! Shawnigan Lake School wins gold at Provincial AAs
Teams battled each other and at times the weather during the Provincial AA's last week. Shawnigan Lake School won the gold medal, beating Crofton House 1-0. Collingwood School won bronze, scoring the winning goal in the last few seconds of the game against St. Michael's University School (2-1). Congratulations to the winning teams and to all the teams that participated! Here are the full results.

UBC Thunderbirds win 3rd straight FHC-CIS Women's Field Hockey Championship

The University of British Columbia Women's Field Hockey team defeated the University of Victoria Vikes 4-1 in the gold medal match, claiming their third straight FHC-CIS Championship win. In the bronze medal match, the Guelph Gryphons beat the Waterloo Warriors 6-0, winning their fourth consecutive bronze medal at FHC-CIS Championships. For full tournament details click here.

Bronze for Canadian Women at Hockey 9's
The Women's National Team battled for bronze against Malaysia in the International Super Series Hockey 9's tournament in Perth, Australia. Canada was victorious with a 3-1 win, with goals from Danielle Hennig, Thea Culley, and Stephanie Gardiner. Check out this video with highlights from the final day of the Hockey 9's!

Canada U-21 Men play final preparation matches before Junior World Cup
In preparation for the 2013 Junior World Cup, the Canadian U-21 Men's Team is playing 3 exhibition games vs. area All-Star Teams in the Vancouver area. The first game will be on Wednesday, November 20th, at Rutledge Field in West Vancouver vs. West Vancouver/ Burnaby/ Tsawwassen All-Star team. For more details and the complete schedule click here.

Field Hockey gals stick it to Cancer at the 5th Annual Game for the Cure
The final score was 1-0 for the Tri-City Eagles women's team over the high school all-stars team on Sunday November 3rd, but the real winner was the BC Cancer Foundation. This year's game for the cure raised over $2,900 for the BC Cancer Foundation, just short of the $4,000 goal. The Game for the Cure was organized for the third consecutive year by Samantha McILwrick, high school student, avid field hockey player, and Field Hockey BC's Junior (U18) Female Player of the Year. Donations can still be made here until December 15th.

Field Hockey players supporting Movember
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) is inviting all Hockey Mo Bros and Mo Sisters from around the world to join their Hockey Heros team in support of men's health. FIH will be presenting weekly best Mo picture donations for the best Mo posted to their Facebook page, so send in your pictures! Join their team and learn more here.

Pakistan and Japan win Asian Champions Trophy
Pakistani men and Japanese women are the winners of the 2013 Asian Champions Trophy! Pakistan beat Japan 3-1 in the final match, coming back from a 0-1 score at half time. Japanese women defeated India 1-0 in a close fought match, winning the gold medal for the first time in this championship. Malaysian men and women won bronze, defeating both Chinese teams.

Women's Hockey World League Final in Argentina
The 2013 Women's Hockey World League Final is fast approaching! 8 teams from around the world will be competing in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina from November 30th to December 8th. Competing teams are Argentina, Australia, China, England, Germany, Korea, the Netherlands, and New Zealand. For more information click here.
