The Field Hockey Season Begins!    

null The first games of the field hockey season got underway last weekend.  Both the men's and women's leagues saw big wins for some clubs in their initial games.  To keep track of the results throughout the season visit the men's league website and the Vancouver women's league website and the Vancouver Island women's league.  Good luck to all teams this season. 

Shiv Jagday Takes on New Role at FHBC    

null Field Hockey BC is pleased to announce that Shiv Jagday is to take on a newly defined role of Technical Skills Matrix Lead to our Learn to Train athlete and coach program. Shiv has been instrumental in leading coach education within the Learn to Train program over the last two years and will now be focusing his time on both athlete and coach development at this critical stage of learning. Shiv will be actively looking to recruit coaches and interested parents in the New Year. For more information visit the FHBC website

Employment Opportunity-Office Admin Assistant  

Field Hockey BC is actively seeking to appoint an Office Administration Assistant to provide logistical support to the operational structure at Field Hockey BC.  This is a full time role based at the FHBC offices in Vancouver.  The deadline for applications in 30th September. Employment Opportunity-Provincial Coach 

Coach Blue team Field Hockey BC is actively looking to recruit an outstanding individual to take on the role of Provincial Coach. The position of Provincial Coach is designed to support the delivery of programming intent on improving the skill and knowledge base of both male and female athletes and coaches throughout the Province of British Columbia.   The deadline for applications is 30th September.  Please visit the FHBC wesbite to find out more. 

Girls T2C Regional Program Trials-Register Now 

null Register now for trials for the Northwest and Southeast Train to Compete Girls Regional Program.  This program is for athletes interested in continuous, committed High Performance Training and Competition during the winter/spring months, The Regional Program is the first step in provincial team athlete identification process, and is mandatory for athletes interested in representing BC.

Girls T2T Regional Program Trials-Register Now 

null The Train to Train Girls Regional Trials are for athletes interested in continuous committed high performance training. Registration is open now for the Northwest and Southeast trials.  The Train to Train Regional Program will take place between December and April with trials taking place in November.

Regional Umpiring Course in October 

null FHBC are holding a Regional Umpiring course on October 9th and October 16th from 6-9pm at the FHBC Offices in Vancouver.  Candidates must have completed the Provincial Umpiring Course prior to registering for this course. Visit the FHBC website for details of how to register. 

Tokyo to Host 2020 Olympics   

null Tokyo won the bid to host the 2020 Olympics beating bids from Madrid and Istanbul.  Following the announcement of Tokyo's success field hockey players, coaches and fans from around the world have given their reaction.  Read the reactions here. 

Women's National Team Heads to Argentina    

The Women's National Team are heading to Mendoza, Argentina for the Pan American Cup 2013. Congratulations to the 18 athletes selected in the squad of which 14 are from BC.  Coach Ian Rutledge was impressed by the team at the Junior World Cup earlier this year and 8 of the athletes going to the Pan Am Cup are Under 21.  Canada's first game will be against Guyana on September 21st.  Keep updated with the results here. 

Canadian Men's National Team in Pan Am Final 








The Men's National Team competed in the Pan American Cup 2013 in August. Canada made it to the finals where they were hoping to secure their place in the 2014 World Cup with a win against rivals Argentina. The final was 0-0 at half time but the Argentinian side came out strong in the second half winning the game 4-0.  Canada took silver medals.  Full details of the final can be seen here.
Double Gold for Germany at TriFinance Euro Hockey
Both the women's and men's German national teams took gold at the TriFinance Euro Hockey league in August.  The women's final was Germany vs England with regular time finishing 4-4 and Germany taking the win in the shootout.  In the men's competition Germany came up against Belgium in the final with the German side taking a 3-1 win.
