FHBC Proud to Launch the 'FHBC Foundation' 
FHBC is proud to announce the launch of the 'FHBC Foundation' in support of the development and growth of Field Hockey across British Columbia. The 'FHBC Foundation' is the philanthropic arm of the Registered Society 'Field Hockey BC' and has been created in partnership with the well respected 'Vancouver Foundation'. Designed to assist athletes, coaches, officials, events, and volunteers, the 'FHBC Foundation' supports programs and services that focus directly on our stakeholders most critical needs and opportunities. http://www.fhbcfoundation.com/
The 2013-2014 Field Hockey Season is Nearly Here!  
A new field hockey season is about to begin with men's and women's league fixtures starting next month.   Check out your league website for any announcements for the coming season and don't forget to renew your FHBC membership for the the 2013-2014 season.
Girls U18 National Champs: Gold for Team BC Blue 

The Under 18 Girls National Championships took place in Vancouver, between 25th and 28th July.  Teams from Nova Scotia, PEI, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and BC were in attendance. The 3 Team BC teams performed well throughout and the finals saw Team BC Blue compete against Ontario for 1st and 2nd place. Team BC Blue beat Ontario 3-0 to win Gold. Team BC white and Team BC Yellow were competing for Bronze medals in a game which went to a penalty shootout with Team BC White taking the win. The final results can be seen on the FHC website

Boys and Girls U16's National Championships 

Team BC had 2 boys and 2 girls teams competing in the U16 National Championships in Brampton, Ontario.  In the girls tournament Team BC Blue beat Ontario W for 3rd place and BC White took 2nd place.  In the boys event Team BC also took away Bronze and Silver medals with BC Blue taking 2nd place and BC White finishing 3rd.   Congratulations to all the teams who took part and thanks to the coaches and team managers for all their hard work.  Check out the results here. 

Fun in the Sun at the Learn to Train Festival
The FHBC Learn to Train Festival took place form 19th to 20th July at Tamanawis Park. It was a hot sunny weekend for the festival and the 14 teams came together to demonstrate and refine the new skills and techniques they had learnt in the weekly training sessions as part of the L2T Regional Program.  The festival saw great skill from the players and lots of great goals.  Thanks to the coaches, managers and umpires for a hugely successful and fun festival. Boys Train to Train Program: Registration Open   
The boys Train to Train Regional Program is open for registration. Boys born between 1999-2001 are eligible for the T2T Regional Program this fall.  The athletes will take part in a 6 week training program with certified FHBC coaches.  To sign up please register online before 6th September. Team BC Blue Win Gold at Canada Cup


A huge congratulations to Team BC Blue who won the Women's Division of the Canada Cup hosted by West Coast Kings.  The victory was a huge success for the Train to Compete team who won the final in a shootout against HOC. The results can be seen here.  Thanks to West Coast Kings for hosting a great tournament.
Junior World Cup: 14th Place for Canada 













The Women's Junior World Cup took place in Mönchengladbach, Germany.  The Canadian Junior Team were in a pool with China, South Africa, and Argentina.  Finishing their pool in 4th place the Juniors went on to play for 13th and 14th place.  Canada took on Belgium in the final game, and were narrowly edged out in a shootout to finish in 14th place.  Visit FHC website to see all the results.
Junior World Cup: Final Day Highlights 












Highlights from the final day at the Junior World Cup. England and India met in the Bronze medal match and The Netherlands and Argentina competed for 1st place.
National Team Looking to Repeat PanAm Cup Win













The Men's National Team started their Pan American Cup campaign well with victories over Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago and a tie with Chile ensuring they finished the pool in top place. Canada will now go on to play USA in the Semi Finals on 15th August, hoping to win a place in the final on 17th August.  Above is a video from Canada's must win game against Trinidad and Tobago. Women's Pan Am Cup 2013 Starts In September 


The Women's National Team will travel to Mendoza, Argentina in September to compete in the Women's Pan American Cup 2013.  The Women's National Team are in Pool A with Argentina, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana.  The first game will take place 21st September against Guyana.  Visit the PAHF website for fixtures and results
3 Years Until Rio 2016 Olympics


August 5th 2013 marked 3 years until the opening of the Rio 2016 Olympics.  Take a look at the venues being developed in Rio de Janiero.
