BC Government Budget Announcements

Sport Bc The BC Government have announced their commitment to continue the Sports, Arts and Legacy Fund, which amounts to $10 million annually over 3 years. The BC Government has recognized the positive results  demonstrated by the sports sector as a result of the Fund originally allocated in the Budget 2010. 

Sue Robertson: Sport BC's Presidents' Award

Ian Rutledge is New Women's National Team Coach
Ian Rutledge has been announced as the new Women's National Team coach.  "I am very excited to assist a group of young and aspiring athletes achieve their Olympic dreams" Says Rutledge "I am looking forward to bringing my passion, skills and experience to a proud and growing hockey nation that has set some ambitious goals" To read more about Ian please visit the FHC website!
Call for Provincial Team Coaches
Coaching positions are available within FHBC's Provincial Excellence Program for Summer 2013.  Provincial coaching represents an advanced opportunity within our Coach Education pathway.  For more information on the positions available please contact FHBC's Regional Coach, Kinder Gill or read more.
High Performance Update
The High Performance team have a number of events over the next month.  April kicks off with the Train to Train Festival, from 5-7 April.  This festival will include athletes from across BC who have participated in the HP Regional Program. Then the Learn to Train Assessments take place from 12-14 April. These are initial athlete assessments for each region across BC.  Finally the Train to Compete Tournament, from 26-28 April, which includes 8 regional teams from across BC, consisting of athletes who have been part of the HP Training Program.  For more information on the High Performance Program please visit our website!
Call for Officials
Call for Volunteers
We are currently seeking volunteers to assist us as Technical Officials, Judges, Ball Chasers and Field Crew for our upcoming High Performance Tournaments.  The Train to Train Festival takes place from 5-7 April at Tamanawis Park and the Train to Compete Tournament from 26-28 April at UBC. Vancouver International Tournament
The Vancouver International Tournament is nearly here. The VIT, one of the largest social field hockey tournaments on the west coast, will take place on 17-20 May 2013 at the Burnaby Lake West Complex.  Registration is open now, for more information or to download the entry form please visit our website!  The deposit deadline is 18 March and the final entry deadline is 7 April.
World News: Azlan Shah Cup takes place in Malaysia 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


The 22nd Azlan Shah Cup is currently taking place in Malaysia. With just one round left in the cup it is not yet known which teams will compete in the finals.  Australia and Malaysia had chances to secure their places in the finals in the last round but both were held to draws against Korea and Pakistan respectively.  New Zealand kept their hopes of reaching the finals alive after defeating India 2-0.  The final round takes place on Saturday 16 March.
