SURF 2014The start of SURF 2014 is just weeks away! This year, 397 eager students will immerse themselves in the research enterprise of Caltech, the Jet Propulsion Lab, and at colleges and universities across the globe.
Here are just a few of the projects that they will be working on:
Optimization of a Multipotent HIV-Neutralizing Reagent
Activation and Inhibition of Akt and Its Effect on Cancer Cells
Novel Materials and Geometries for Ultra-lightweight High-efficiency Solar Cells
Artificial Bone Scaffolds out of Nanotrusses for Bone Regenerations
Modeling the Thermal and Physical evolution of the Sedimentary Rocks of Mount Sharp, Mars
Exploration of Interseismic Deformation in the Ventura Basin, California
Modeling Financial networks and Contagion
Model Selection for Mutual Fund Performance Predictability
Strong Gravitational Lensing Insights into the Particle Nature of Dark Matter
Modeling Europa's Hydrothermal Vents
The Potts Model and Combinatorial Polynomials
Razor Analysis of Dileptonic Top Quark Pair Events
Congratulations to the students, mentors, and co-mentors! And, thank you, to all of you who wrote recommendations, helped students with their proposals, and reviewed the applications. We can't wait to hear about the results of these projects at SURF Seminar Day.
