From the ACNA Catechism
| 51. What does "Christ" mean? Christos is a Greek word meaning "Anointed One." Old Testament kings, priests and prophets were anointed with oil. Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit to perfectly fulfill these roles and he rules now as God's prophet, priest, and king over his Church and all creation. (Acts 10:38)
Access the Catechism on the ACNA page here. Here are the Scripture references:
Acts 10:38 (ESV) 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

Thursday Morning Men's Study Handout
|
When you look at the video of the "Early Christians" Thursday morning Bible study, you might notice folks looking at a handout. Here is the one from July 2, 2015 so you can see what Fr. Andrew is talking about. Unfortunately, there was a technical problem, so there is no video for July 2.
Early Christians Romans: The Righteousness of God revealed in the Gospel of God Fr. Andrew Rowell July 2, 2015
A reading from Paul's Letter to the Romans
1 Therefore you have no excuse, 0 man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. 2We know that the judgment of God righdy falls on those who practice such things. 3 Do you suppose, 0 man-you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself-that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? 5 But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 He will render to each one according to his works: 7 to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; 8 but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. 9 There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, 10 but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. 11 For God shows no partiality. (Romans 2:1-11 ESV) Questions for Discussion
1. How can we, with humility, express the truths of God's love and His judgment to the world? 2. What would a life of repentance look like for us? 3. Do we presume upon God's kindness and patience, or do we seize them as the grace that they are, giving us time to repent and serve in God's Kingdom? 4. Do we seek God's glory or are we self-seeking?

Prayer For Christchurch
Give us Your strength for the journey, Lord, for we've begun the race but are far from the finish. You Who have brought us to this new day, lead us onward, for we want to follow.
Give us the faith to fight the good fight, for with You we know we cannot lose. Give us the peace that knows we're not alone, for Your Son walks with us.
Give us the grace to see each step taken as part of a greater Plan, for it's Your will that we seek.
And as we keep the faith to the end of our journey, may we always remember why we began.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

There are 4 cameras stashed around the church. These are for anyone to use, and people ARE using them! Take a few pictures, pass the camera around, and put it back!
The cameras are in drawers in the Narthex, Sacristry, Hallway near the nursery, and Canterbury Hall on the parking lot side. You can also post your own photos of parish life to our Facebook Photo Stream, and be sure to tag

+CHRISTCHURCH+
Its unceasing mission: To be a light in the world, a city set on a hill; To keep the faith delivered once for all to the saints; To offer new life and ancient truth.
To be a place where:
Saints are made and fishing taught;
love's displayed as souls are caught;
hearts are mended and faith upbuilt;
all befriended, freed from guilt;
holy fires by Spirit lit and bright hopes raised by Holy Writ;
Jesus praised as bread is broken,
to share His cup, that grace be spoken;
lives lifted up:
the blind find sight,
the lost brought near,
In God's delight Christ is here!
"Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine: Glory to him from generation to generation in the Church, and in Christ Jesus forever. Amen."
Ephesians 3:20-21
