Sunday - Adult Christian Education
|
Credo Class: Discipleship Series: Learning to Walk Like Jesus. Over the next four Sundays, we will examine what is means to be a disciple of Jesus, to follow and "walk like" Him. Using the That the World May Know video curriculum with host Ray vander Laan, we will journey to the Holy Land, walk where Jesus and His disciples walked, and learn the cost, depth and joy of discipleship. Today: The Most Unlikely Disciple, Paul. From Christian hater to Christian maker, St. Paul is one of the most profound of all disciples. We will discover his passion to share his faith with both Jew and Gentile. We will see his intense devotion to God as he slowly discovers God's will for his life and work. We will learn from his Jewish way of sharing the message of Jesus that would change the world. And we will be challenged to imitate Paul's willingness to place God's plans and desires ahead of his own. Discussion facilitated by David Berenguer.
Women's Bible Study - W.O.W Class: Hidden Treasure Room: 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. The Nature of God. This study by popular Christian author and speaker Graham Cooke challenges us to look again at our understanding of Who God is. Many people's image of Him is flawed, yet what we think about God is the single most important thing in our spiritual journey. God wants us to be confident in Him and in His love for us. Upgrade your image of God, to live a life of faith and conviction. Led by Alice DeMoss.
The Damascus Road Class: Open to all men. What is Essential for Christian Faith and Life - Concerning Sacraments. Led by Guy Hood and Bill Llewellyn. Chi Rho House.
Relevance Class: The Relevance of Exodus - Join us as we embark on a journey unlike any other in the Bible, because it begins with God's mighty hand releasing His people from captivity. Come and see how God leads, teaches, and protects those He calls His own; which, includes you and me. Bible study with discussion. Facilitated by George Mardre. Choir Room

WEDNESDAY NIGHT "SALT AND LIGHT"
Canterbury Hall January 28
5:45 p.m. Ministry Program / 6:30 p.m. Supper
Canterbury Hall: 5:45 p.m.
The Grave Robber: How Jesus Can Make Your Impossible Possible. In this special Epiphany series, we will join the Rev. Mark Batterson, pastor of the National Community Church in Washington, D.C., on a remarkable journey to the Holy Land, to the very spots Jesus chose to reveal His power through miraculous signs. We will hear true stories of modern-day miracles and will see brought to light the countless everyday miracles we take for granted - miracles that point us toward the One Who healed the sick, calmed the storm, and yes, even raised the dead. Miracles are not simply something Jesus did in the past; they're something He wants to do now, in the present. If you long to see God work in miraculous ways in your life, you will love this faith-building, lifegiving teaching. DVD study, Discussion led by Fr. Rusty.

From the ACNA Catechism
| 26. What is Holy Scripture? Holy Scripture is "God's Word written" (Articles of Religion, 20), given by the Holy Spirit through prophets and apostles as the revelation of God and his acts in human history, and is therefore the Church's final authority in all matters of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16)
Access the Catechism on the ACNA page here.
Here are the Scripture references:
2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV) 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

Prayer For Christchurch
Give us Your strength for the journey, Lord, for we've begun the race but are far from the finish. You Who have brought us to this new day, lead us onward, for we want to follow.
Give us the faith to fight the good fight, for with You we know we cannot lose. Give us the peace that knows we're not alone, for Your Son walks with us.
Give us the grace to see each step taken as part of a greater Plan, for it's Your will that we seek.
And as we keep the faith to the end of our journey, may we always remember why we began.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

+CHRISTCHURCH+
Its unceasing mission: To be a light in the world, a city set on a hill; To keep the faith delivered once for all to the saints; To offer new life and ancient truth.
To be a place where:
Saints are made and fishing taught;
love's displayed as souls are caught;
hearts are mended and faith upbuilt;
all befriended, freed from guilt;
holy fires by Spirit lit and bright hopes raised by Holy Writ;
Jesus praised as bread is broken,
to share His cup, that grace be spoken;
lives lifted up:
the blind find sight,
the lost brought near,
In God's delight Christ is here!
"Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine: Glory to him from generation to generation in the Church, and in Christ Jesus forever. Amen."
Ephesians 3:20-21
