Regarding the series, entitled "Spiritus Gladius: Paul's Last Words for Your Life," Fr. John-Michael+ explains, "This is a series that I've been considering for a long, long time. It's about the questions I'm convinced each one of us, if we're serious about being a Christian, needs to ask ourselves. These are the things I feel like I simply have to say - things every Christian needs to be able to say at the end of life - before I leave Christchurch."

 The first sermon, "Are You Fighting the Good Fight?" is set for Sunday, September 7th.

The Heavens are telling the glory of God, and their expanse declares the work of His hands (Psalm 19:1). Night after night they remind us of just how small we are, and how huge God is. But as tiny as we may seem, the God Who knows every star by name also knows yours. And in the most stunning rescue imaginable, God sent His Son to this spinning planet we call home - the Creator reconnecting us to Himself with life that never ends. Louie Giglio, founder of the Passion worship movement, in this stirring teaching takes us on an image-rich journey through the cosmos, allowing us to peer into God's universe to discover the amazing magnitude of His greatness and grace. Canterbury Hall. Discussion facilitated by David Berenguer.

From the ACNA Catechism
6. What is the way of life?

The way of life is a life directed toward loving and responding to God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ, in the power of God's indwelling Holy Spirit, and leading to eternal life. (John 14:23-26; Colossians 1:9-12; Ephesians 5:1-2; Romans 12:9-21)

Access the Catechism on the ACNA page here.

Here are the Scripture references:

John 14:23-26 (ESV)
23  Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
24  Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me.
25  "These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you.
26  But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

Colossians 1:9-12 (ESV)
9  And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
10  so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
11  May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy,
12  giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

Ephesians 5:1-2 (ESV)
1  Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
2  And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Romans 12:9-21 (ESV)
9  Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.
10  Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
11  Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
12  Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
13  Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
14  Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.
15  Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.
16  Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.
17  Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.
18  If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
19  Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord."
20  To the contrary, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head."
21  Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Prayer For Christchurch

Give us Your strength for the journey, Lord, for we've begun the race but are far from the finish. You Who have brought us to this new day, lead us onward, for we want to follow.

Give us the faith to fight the good fight, for with You we know we cannot lose.

Give us the peace that knows we're not alone, for Your Son walks with us.

Give us the grace to see each step taken as part of a greater Plan, for it's Your will that we seek.

And as we keep the faith to the end of our journey, may we always remember why we began.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

+CHRISTCHURCH+
Its unceasing mission:
To be a light in the world, a city set on a hill;
To keep the faith delivered once for all to the saints;
To offer new life and ancient truth.

To be a place where:

Saints are made
and fishing taught;

love's displayed
as souls are caught;

hearts are mended
and faith upbuilt;

all befriended,
freed from guilt;

holy fires by Spirit lit
and
bright hopes raised
by Holy Writ;

Jesus praised
as bread is broken,

to share His cup,
that grace be spoken;

lives lifted up:
the blind find sight,
the lost brought near,
In God's delight Christ is here!

"Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine:
Glory to him from generation to generation in the Church, and in Christ Jesus forever. Amen."

Ephesians 3:20-21
