Flaring Issues, Solutions, and Technologies
(F.I.S.T.)
RESERVE THE DATE!
Plan on attending!
The EFD Team worked with PTTC to complete a series of workshops aimed at understanding the barriers associated with mitigating flare gas. A white paper has been written that summarizes the findings.
Our next steps include field testing of various technologies. A workshop will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 on January 14, 2015 at BINGO Interests/Lime Instruments (1189 Brittmoore Road, Houston, TX 77043) to discuss barriers to using field gas as a fuel for hydraulic fracturing and drilling applications, field trials underway/being planned, and new technology solutions including field processing equipment. BINGO will have on display various equipment and solutions.
BINGO handles everything involved in the sourcing, processing, storage, transportation and marketing needed to optimize an operator's natural gas fueling solution. Services include the installation of all necessary piping, manifolds, compression and pressure reduction systems.
If you would like to attend this workshop, please contact Ginny Jahn at

Characterizing Nitrogen Emissions
University of Pittsburgh
Dr. Emily Elliott at the University of Pittsburgh is working on how to characterize nitrogen emissions. Measurements use a combination of passive and real-time sampling of NH3, NOx and ozone (O3). This work aims to fill a critical knowledge gap in assessing how activities associated with individual wells may potentially affect air quality and ecosystem improvements realized under the Clean Air Act and Amendments. The EFD Team is coordinating with operators to locate additional sites to test the process that Emily is developing.

EFD Quest to Reduce the Environmental Footprint
Learn about the technologies and practices industry utilize to reduce impacts!

|
|
|
The EFD program, funded by federal, state and foreign government agencies, industry and environmental organizations, provides unbiased science to policy makers and identifies, develops and tests new technologies, processes and systems to reduce the environmental footprint associated with oil and gas activities, from well site selection through natural gas compression. The program, approximately $4 million per year, is engaged in research and technology transfer activities from the Western Slope of the Rockies to the Ukraine, and from the North Slope of Alaska to Columbia (South America). Research includes land, air and water issues, as well as public perception investigations. The program was honored with the Chairman's Stewards Award for Environmental Partnership at the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.
