Scorecard Prototype Tested

Two members of the EFD Scorecard team traveled to an operator's location in an upland woodlands ecosystem to test the scorecard with assistance from the operator's regional business offices. The operator, one of the sponsors of the EFD program, graciously offered this specific locale to work with the Scorecard Team in this effort. The team then traveled to the selected rig site to discuss the scorecard and other items with the rig crew.

Help Develop New Fracturing Technology

The Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America (RPSEA) manages a US Department of Energy R&D program for upstream oil and gas technologies. One project completed in the Small Producers subprogram has been vetted in laboratory trials as being ready for field demonstration. RPSEA has selected a follow-on project to accomplish the field trials pending final award. The original investigation team is assembled to conduct the field demonstration project.

Led by DaniMer Scientific, LLC, the team includes CSI Technologies, LLC, EnerPol, Texas A&M University and Ampak. The Petroleum Technology Transfer Council (PTTC) has agreed to participate in recruiting additional smaller producers for a project steering committee and to support technology transfer efforts.

TIP Advisory Committee

Many thanks to the EFD Advisory Committee who met October 11th in San Antonio to review and discuss the plans that need to be developed for our EFD-TIP field test efforts. The details, budgets and scopes of work were developed and distributed to the committee prior to the meeting, with presentations from proposers this day.
Questions and comments were made there as well as noted individually by those present, then submitted to compile and review.

Innovation, Safety & Environment Culture and How They Should Impact Your Career Choices

Over the past two decades, safety has become a core value with many companies; with increased understanding that safety and environment go hand in hand. However, not every company understands how to instill a safety culture within its organization and "Environmental Culture" is not where it should be.

EFD Program Highlighted
in Hart Energy's

The Hydraulic Fracturing Techbook is the 1st in a series of Techbooks in which Hart Energy will provide comprehensive coverage of effective and emerging technologies in the oil and gas industry.

The chapter, 'Environmentally Friendly' No Longer an Oxymoron to Oil and Gas reviews how the EFD program is coordinating efforts to bridge the gap between business and environmental initiatives.

The EFD program, funded by federal, state and foreign government agencies, industry and environmental organizations, provides unbiased science to policy makers and identifies, develops and tests new technologies, processes and systems to reduce the environmental footprint associated with oil and gas activities, from well site selection through natural gas compression. The program, approximately $4 million per year, is engaged in research and technology transfer activities from the Western Slope of the Rockies to the Ukraine, and from the North Slope of Alaska to Columbia (South America). Research includes land, air and water issues, as well as public perception investigations. The program was honored with the Chairman's Stewards Award for Environmental Partnership at the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.
