National Adoption Month is here -- along with the changing of the leaves and the dropping temperatures. It's a time when we prepare for the holidays and gathering our family together to make lasting memories.

But what about the more than 104,000 children* across the nation who are currently waiting to be placed into a loving, permanent home? Will they have a family to greet with a big hug? Or a holiday table to share laughter at? Or a warm bed to kneel next two when saying their prayers at night?

It is this month of recognition that begs families, everywhere, to find the kindness in their heart to open their home to a child or sibling group and consider adoption. You could be the answer to a child's prayer.

If you've considered adoption before -- but were unsure -- we can help answer questions you have. Call today - 1-800-458-0651.

OUR AMAZING EMPLOYEES

It takes a special person to love working for a non-profit and especially providing a safe home and compassionate care for seniors. It takes someone with a generous and giving nature who intuitively responds to the needs of others. We'd like you to meet Willie Andrews and Matthew Goodsier -- staff who exemplify the LSMNJ spirit and recently went above and beyond for those we serve.

At first glance, you may not realize that he is an unsung hero, but when Lutheran Crossings experienced a minor fire Willie Andrews' quick response put the best interests of residents first.

Matthew Goodsier didn't hestitate when a request for food at New Visions Homeless Day Shelter was posted on LSMNJ's Facebook page. He wanted to help feed Camden's most needy residents.

A DIFFICULT GOODBYE to TONI DiDONATO

The LSMNJ family is saddened to share news of the passing of our very own, Toni DiDonato, property manager of Birchwood Senior Housing Residence in Old Bridge, NJ.

Toni passed away at home on October 31, surrounded by her family. Toni had been with the organization for 15 years and had not only served her immediate residential community of seniors at Birchwood, but also members of the Old Bridge community at large through volunteering and serving on various boards and fundraising committees. She will always be remembered for her kind heart that was as big as the state of New Jersey.

We will certainly miss your beautiful smile and your zest for life!

SUITCASES FOR KIDS - Nov. 1 -- Nov. 30

During the month of November, in recognition of National Adoption Month, please join us in our effort to acquire new suitcases or duffel bags for children who have been removed from their homes and placed into foster care.

"When children are removed from their home,
due to neglect, abuse, or sudden tragedy, and are
placed in foster care, they usually only have a trash
bag to pack their belongings. Your donation can help

them transition to a new home with dignity."

-- Diane D'Agostino, MSW, LCSW
Director LSMNJ Adoption

Your donation could help make their journey a little easier.  Download the flyer or contact us to learn more.
