A revised version of the NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG), (NSF 17-1) has been issued. The PAPPG has been modified in its entirety. The document will now be referred to solely as the NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide. Given the number of important revisions, the community is strongly encouraged to review the by-chapter summary of changes provided in pages 2-8 of the PAPPGClick here to view webinars designed the brief the community on the new PAPPG.

The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) announces new steps to work towards the long-term health and sustainable use of one of America's most important natural resources: its soil. Webinar for faculty researchers on the differences between mission agencies (e.g., DOE, DoD, USDA, NASA, etc.) and basic research agencies such as NSF and NIH. The webinar will cover how to understand mission agencies, how to identify and approach program officers that may be interested in your research, what to ask, how to develop concept or white papers, quad charts, and full proposals(Jan. 18)

This webinar will cover the basics of small business innovation research (SBIR) and small business technology transfer grants: who funds them, who can apply, how to write a competitive SBIR or STTR proposal, and how faculty can use these kinds of grants as part of their research funding strategies. (Jan. 25)

Webinar for faculty on how to develop strong outreach and education components to meet NSF's broader impacts requirements. Note: The emphasis will not be on education components for CAREER proposals, which will be covered in the CAREER webinar. (Feb. 1st)

Webinar for faculty who have been successful in winning single-PI and small team grants and are looking to transition to larger team and center-level grants. We will discuss how these larger grants are different, what the expectations of the funding agencies are for large team and center grants, successful strategies and common mistakes to avoid.
