Startup UCLA seeks to develop a culture of startup thinking on campus by connecting UCLA students with LA's digital startup scene.

The Department of Defense is soliciting applications from current/recent grant awardees to receive mentoring and funding to accelerate the innovation of the funded research. The purpose of funding is to accelerate the commercialization of basic research innovations from qualifying institutions.The goals  are to spur the transition of fundamental research, to encourage collaboration between academia and industry, and to train students to understand innovation and entrepreneurship (Sep. 15)

The Sustainable LA Grand Challenge team released its Five-Year Work Plan identifying over 100 research recommendations critical to deliver a 2050 Sustainable LA Implementation Plan for Los Angeles County by 2020. A core team of faculty and researchers from across disciplines met regularly over the past year to develop the Work Plan with input from internal and external scholars.

The CTSI Training Program in Translational Science was developed to provide clinicians with the necessary training to become successful patient-oriented investigators who can bridge molecular medicine and clinical research. Participants have a high commitment to clinical research and must have either professional health degrees or a doctorate. In addition, participants must be affiliated with UCLA, Harbor-LABiomed, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center or Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science.

With this Dear Colleague Letter (DCL), the National Science Foundation (NSF) is announcing the intention to foster the development of a national research infrastructure for neuroscience (National Brain Observatory) to support collaborative and team science for achieving a comprehensive understanding of the brain in action and context.

NCCWSL is a transformative experience.
