In a world where a growing number of people lack food, water and sources of energy, providing these resources has become a challenge. To find new answers, the NSF has funded 17 grants, totaling $1.2 million, to support workshops on the interactions of food, energy and water, or FEW. Additionally, $6.4 million will supplement existing grants, enabling scientists to conduct additional research.
Civil engineering infrastructure is aging and deteriorating, an issue, remediation of which involves huge maintenance and replacement costs. At the same time, due to the growth of the population/transportation, the need for infrastructure keeps increasing. These aspects need to be balances within the context of sustainability and reduction of CO2 emissions allocated to the construction community

Interested leading experts in construction materials from academia, industry, and governmental agencies should submit an abstract paper if they want to present at the conference by September 30, 2015. The conference will take place March 17-18, 2016.
Center for Education Innovation in Life Sciences (CEILS) creates a collaborative community of instructors committed to advancing teaching excellence, assessment, diversity, and scholarship, resulting in the enhancement of student learning experiences in the life sciences at UCLA.
The Sustainable LA Grand Challenge ("SLA") is pleased to announce our first call for proposals for research grants in furtherance of achieving the goals of 100-percent renewable energy, 100-percent locally sourced water, and enhanced ecosystem health and human health and well-being by 2050 in Los Angeles County as described in detail in the Sustainable LA Five-Year Work Plan ("Work Plan"). The purpose of these grants is to fund research identified in the Work Plan, and to catalyze new lines of research and new collaborations across campus. Deadline is Oct 26.
You have an opportunity to submit and/or vote for ideas to reduce compliance burden related to grants and contracts through an on-line survey initiated by the Federal Government.

To participate, log in to the website established for grantee responses and register. You can vote for existing ideas by clicking the "UP" arrow above the number of votes for each entry. Clicking the "DOWN" arrow reduces the number of votes. Please note that votes cannot be changed, and exercise caution when clicking. You can also submit new ideas of your own.

At SCCSC 2015, we have assembled an exciting group of speakers from a variety of companies, who will discuss how they utilize computation in their respective positions in industry. The talks will cover a wide range of topics yet will remain geared towards a general science audience. This conference allows students the opportunity not only to learn how computation is being used in industry, but also to broaden their understanding of other fields in science and engineering. Conference takes place Oct 20. Click the above link to register.
