NIH established the Interagency Pain Research Coordinating Committee to coordinate all pain research efforts within HHS and across other Federal Agencies. The IPRCC is developing a strategic plan for pain research across federal agencies. A panel of experts will convene to provide recommendations in key pain research areas to move the field forward with the ultimate goal to relieve pain and improve pain care through evidence based studies by enhancing the federal research agenda. This RFI invites public comment and input on the development of the federal pain research strategy. The response date is
September 18, 2015.
UCLA has recently acquired institutional membership with NCFDD, which is an organization that provides professional development and mentoring opportunities for faculty, staff, graduate students, and postdocs. The Office of Interdisciplinary & Cross Campus Affairs (ICCA) is pleased to announced two funding opportunities, including a new opportunity to bring outstanding scholars to Campus to promote interdisciplinary and cross campus education, research, and service at UCLA. In addition to the Visiting Speaker funding, ICCA will also be accepting proposals for its Symposia, Workshop, and Planning Meeting funding opportunity. These opportunities are open to all UCLA faculty members in the regular professor series and are due October 30 2015. Details as follows:
The growing scale of science has been accompanied by a shift toward collaborative research, referred to as 'team science." How does a team-based approach work, and how can universities and research institutions support teams? This symposium synthesizes and integrates the available research to provide guidance on assembling the science team; leadership, education and professional development for science teams and groups.
