The conference aims at identifying and discussing the "Grand Challenges" (of which there are many) in construction materials, and potential solutions to these. Focus is placed on identifying groupings of challenges, research directions for the academic community, and industry to undertake towards solution of such anticipated challenges. The submission deadline for abstracts is September 30., 2015. Registration discounts are available through February 5, 2016.

The growing scale of science has been accompanied by a shift toward collaborative research, referred to as 'team science." How does a team-based approach work, and how can universities and research institutions support teams? This symposium synthesizes and integrates the available research to provide guidance on assembling the science team; leadership, education and professional development for science teams and groups. Register for the event taking place September 18, 2015.
 
UCLA has recently acquired institutional membership with NCFDD, which is an organization that provides professional development and mentoring opportunities for faculty, staff, graduate students, and postdocs. The Office of Interdisciplinary & Cross Campus Affairs (ICCA) is pleased to announced two funding opportunities, including a new opportunity to bring outstanding scholars to Campus to promote interdisciplinary and cross campus education, research, and service at UCLA. In addition to the Visiting Speaker funding, ICCA will also be accepting proposals for its Symposia, Workshop, and Planning Meeting funding opportunity. These opportunities are open to all UCLA faculty members in the regular professor series and are due October 30 2015. Details as follows:
